Why Social Exclusion Persists among Older People in Australia

open access: yesSocial Inclusion, 2015
The existing literature on social exclusion among older people, though relatively limited, suggests that disadvantage among older people is cumulative in nature. Some aspects of disadvantage starting at early life stages have long-term consequences.

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

E-Books an Medizinbibliotheken – „Gekommen um zu bleiben“. Ein Erfahrungsbericht der Universitätsbibliothek der Medizinischen Universität Wien / E-Books at medical libraries: They came to stay. A report from the university library at the Medical University Vienna

open access: yesGMS Medizin – Bibliothek – Information, 2011
Many university libraries and in particular medical libraries have built up a considerable collection of electronic books. These E-Books are already highly accepted by patrons despite unsolved questions on technical standards and license models which ...

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

Tough Injectable Hydrogels Enabled by Integrating Rigid Homogeneous Framework With Flexible Chains

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Tough injectable hydrogels are constructed by integrating a rigid, homogeneous hyaluronic acid framework with flexible long‐chain connectors. This framework–flexible structure simultaneously enhances network uniformity and promotes effective energy dissipation by enlarging plastic deformation zones under compression.

Formation of Quasi‐Decoupling Interface on Li‐Metal Anodes in High Donor Electrolyte

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Li‐metal anode (LMA) is stabilized by introducing Li2Te2 as an electrolyte additive for Li‐metal batteries. Upon contact with Li, Li2Te2 spontaneously converts to Li2Te, which electronically isolates Li from dimethyl sulfoxide due to its large bandgap and minimal Bader charge transfer.

The Ni,Cd Heteroatoms‐Initiated Synergistic Tuning of Electron Configuration in Fe2VO4 Nanosheets Electrocatalysts to Profoundly Stabilize Alkaline Seawater Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni,Cd‐codoped Fe2VO4/NF bifunctional electrocatalyst is rationally designed for efficient seawater electrolysis. Synergistic effect modulates electron configuration, optimizes intermediates adsorption, stabilizes high‐valence Fe/V sites, and repels chloride ions to suppress corrosion and side reactions, thus contributing to performance improvement of

Template‐Confined Synthesis of Shape‐Engineered Single‐Crystal Gold Microplates in Lithographically‐Defined Polymeric Patterns

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐crystal gold microplates are high‐performance nanomaterials with an impressive wafer‐based application space. Progress has, however, been tempered by an inability to exert synthetic control over microplate size, shape, and positioning. In this work, control over these parameters is demonstrated using a seed‐mediated synthesis that both confines ...
