Local disaster debris management planning priorities: qualitative assessment of plans from Virginia
McNeil, SueDebris management is often one of the largest disaster recovery costs a community must absorb. Because it is such a burdensome process, state and federal government agencies offer many tools and templates to guide local communities through the

This study combines full‐field tomography with diffraction mapping to quantify radial (ε002$\varepsilon _{002}$) and axial (ε100$\varepsilon _{100}$) lattice strain in wrinkled carbon‐fiber specimens for the first time. Radial microstrain gradients (−14.5 µεMPa$\varepsilon \mathrm{MPa}$−1) are found to signal damage‐prone zones ahead of failure, which ...

Architected Inverse Nacre Hydrogels With High Strength and Crack‐Insensitive Toughness
Hydrogels hold promise for biomedical and engineering applications, yet their practical use is fundamentally limited by the strength‐toughness trade‐off and poor fatigue resistance. In this study, a bioinspired inverse nacre architecture constructed via a scalable thermo‐calendering process is introduced, which overcomes these classic limitations ...

Multi-hazard risk assessment analysis in La Palma: an approach for risk mitigation
Background La Palma, like many regions of the world, may be affected by various hazards, with different levels of susceptibility, which have a greater or lesser impact on society.

A steric‐hindrance molecular engineering strategy uses dimethyl maleate (DMM) to convert poly(1,4‐butanediol) bis(4‐aminobenzoate) (PBDAB) into a precursor with reduced reactivity via Michael addition, thereby retarding the curing process to form a transparent, ultraflexible, and self‐healable secondary‑amine polyurea (PuSA) with a crosslinked network.

Challenges in Creating a Disaster Resilient Built Environment
With the increase in occurrences of high impact disasters, the concept of risk reduction and resilience is widely recognised. Recent disasters have highlighted the exposure of urban cities to natural disasters and emphasised the need of making cities ...

Site‐Specific Hydroxide Formation and Corrosion on Mg Nanocrystals
Using single‐crystalline Mg nanocrystals, this study uncovers the intrinsic corrosion initiation mechanism. The stability of the protective Mg(OH)2 film depends on its interfacial coherence with the Mg substrate. Corrosion initiates at exposed corners, where film coverage is incomplete.

ABSTRACT Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains therapeutically challenging due to high metastasis, recurrence, and immunotherapy resistance driven by tumor microenvironment‐mediated immune evasion. Immunogenic cell death (ICD) offers a promising strategy to reshape the immune microenvironment, yet existing ICD inducers suffer from poor targeting efficiency ...
