Development and Performance Evaluation of an Integrated Disc Cutter System for TBMs

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Changing the cutter is an essential procedure in tunnel boring machine (TBM) operations. The danger and low efficiency of manually replacing the disc cutter has led engineering equipment designers to study technologies to automate the changing of cutters.

Mechanization and Automation. Wear Characteristics of Disc Cutter and a Method for Disc Cutter Life Improvement.

open access: yesShigen-to-Sozai, 1996
In order to improve disc cutter life on TBMs, a series of studies, which consistedof investigation on wear characteristics of disc cutters in situ, construction of a wear model for disc cutters and suggestion of a method for disc cutter life improvement, were conducted. From the examination and analysis of disc cutter wear on TBMs in two tunneling sites,

Study on Cutting Chip in Milling GH4169 with Indexable Disc Cutter [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials, 2021
The study and control for chip have a significant impact on machining quality and productivity. In this paper, GH4169 was cut with an indexable disc milling cutter. The chips corresponding to each group of cutting parameters were collected, and the chip parameters (chip curl radius, chip thickness deformation coefficient, and chip width deformation ...

The effect of an organic pentasulfide EP additive in turning and milling operations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Coopération avec Ecole Centrale LyonBecause a cutting fluid could be equally used for different cutting operations, this study proposed to investigate the behavior of a well-known extreme-pressure additive (pentasulfide) in both turning and milling ...

Investigation of Disc Cutter Wear in Tunnel-Boring Machines (TBMs): Integration of Photogrammetry, Measurement with a Caliper, Weighing, and Macroscopic Visual Inspection

open access: yesApplied Sciences
During the construction of tunnels using tunnel-boring machines (TBMs), the wear of disc cutters is an unavoidable process. The timely replacement of worn disc cutters can have a positive effect on construction time and therefore on costs.

Research and implementation of monitoring system of disc cutter rotation speed

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing
The disc cutter is a main cutter to break rock in the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), but its abnormal state will increase the wear and may even cause the damages to the cutter head. But the cutter wear can only detect the limit of tool use, Therefore, real-

Disc-Cutter Wear of TBM at Hida Tunnel

open access: yesJournal of MMIJ, 2007
The main drive of Hida Tunnel for Tokai-Hokuriku Highway was excavated by a world-largest-class TBM with the diameter of 12.84 m. The TBM have bored over 3.0 km of the tunnel through Nouhi Rhyolite, Granite Porphyry and Hida Gneiss. The uniaxial compressive strength of these rocks was found to be extremely high.

Changes in Body Composition in Children and Young People Undergoing Treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ongoing evidence indicates increased risk of sarcopenic obesity among children and young people (CYP) with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), often beginning early in treatment, persisting into survivorship. This review evaluates current literature on body composition in CYP with ALL during and after treatment.

Prolonged Corrected QT Interval as an Early Electrocardiographic Marker of Cyclophosphamide‐Induced Cardiotoxicity in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Patients

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Cyclophosphamide (CY) is associated with potentially fatal cardiotoxicity, yet no electrocardiographic indices have been established for early detection of CY‐induced cardiomyopathy. This study aimed to determine whether corrected QT interval (QTc) prolongation can predict early onset of CY‐related cardiac dysfunction in pediatric ...
