This study presents a stability assessment of rock slopes, considering the joint systems of the rock walls of Wojciech Bednarski Park. Special emphasis was placed on analysing the orientation and infill characteristics of the identified joint sets. Based

In this paper, we review the empirical evidence of discontinuous distributions in complex systems within the context of panarchy theory and discuss the significance of discontinuities for understanding emergent properties such as resilience.

Convergence of the Discontinuous Galerkin Method for Discontinuous Solutions [PDF]
The author proves convergence of a discontinuous Galerkin method for a convection-reaction equation under very weak assumptions on the coefficients. The proof is based on work of \textit{R. J. DiPerna} and \textit{P. L. Lions} [Invent. Math. 98, 511--547 (1989; Zbl 0696.34049)]. Applications include modeling the flow of incompressible immiscible fluids.

Explosive synchronization is discontinuous [PDF]
Spontaneous explosive is an abrupt transition to collective behavior taking place in heterogeneous networks when the frequencies of the nodes are positively correlated to the node degree. This explosive transition was conjectured to be discontinuous. Indeed, numerical investigations reveal a hysteresis behavior associated with the transition.

Discontinuity Detection in GNSS Station Coordinate Time Series Using Machine Learning
Global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) provide globally distributed station coordinate time series that can be used for a variety of applications such as the definition of a terrestrial reference frame.

M. Foucault and T. Kuhn concerned with the discontinuity of discourse in the sciences and social disciplines. In 1960s Kuhn stated that the natural science reflects basically a sequence of paradigm changes. In 1970s Foucault claimed a form of discourse about the growth of scientific knowledge in a range of human and medical sciences.

Characterization of Complex Rock Mass Discontinuities from LiDAR Point Clouds
The distribution and development of rock mass discontinuities in 3D space control the deformation and failure characteristics of the rock mass, which in turn affect the strength, permeability, and stability of rock masses.
