A Multi-Body Dynamic Model for Analysis of Localized Track Responses in Vicinity of Rail Discontinuities

open access: yes, 2016
Rail discontinuities are one of the main sources of wheel impact causing high levels of noise, vibration and stresses in railway track. Even though various multi-body train–track interaction models have been developed in the past decade, accurate ...

Near‐Infrared Light‐Driven Zn/Au Janus Micromotors for Multiplex SERS Detection of Anticancer Drugs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Zn/Au Janus micromotors, propelled by thermophoretic effects under NIR light, function as active SERS platforms for single and multiplex detection of anticancer drugs. Their dynamic motion enhances analyte exchange at the Au interface, reducing saturation and competitive adsorption, thereby improving sensitivity and extending the linear detection range.

Graded‐Interface Dual‐Environment Hydrogel‐Polymer Electrolyte for Stabilized Anode and Sustained Cathode Kinetics in Aqueous Zinc‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A graded‐interface hydrogel‐polymer electrolyte decouples water activity to simultaneously stabilize the Zn anode and sustain cathode kinetics. The flexible design supports dendrite‐free cycling over 1600 h, high capacity in both MnO2 and V2O5 full cells, and stable pouch‐cell performance under bending, resolving the fundamental water conflict in ...

The characterisation and analysis of in-situ and blasted block-size distributions and the blastability of rock masses.

open access: yes, 1997
PhDIn this thesis, previous research on discontinuity geometry, in-situ block size distribution (IBSD), blasted block size distribution (BBSD), and blastability of rock mass is discussed.

Special discontinuities in models of continuum mechanics

open access: yes, 2018
Some models of continuum mechanics with possible special discontinuities are analyzed. It is of interest to study such discontinuities since they can generate the non-uniqueness of solutions in a problem of arbitrary discontinuity ...

Template‐Confined Synthesis of Shape‐Engineered Single‐Crystal Gold Microplates in Lithographically‐Defined Polymeric Patterns

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐crystal gold microplates are high‐performance nanomaterials with an impressive wafer‐based application space. Progress has, however, been tempered by an inability to exert synthetic control over microplate size, shape, and positioning. In this work, control over these parameters is demonstrated using a seed‐mediated synthesis that both confines ...

From discretization to regularization of composite discontinuous functions

open access: yes, 2014
Discontinuities between distinct regions, described by different equation sets, cause difficulties for PDE/ODE solvers. We present a new algorithm that eliminates integrator discontinuities through regularizing discontinuities.

Collision Constraints and Diffeomorphisms: Dealing With Physics in Deformable Image Registration

open access: yesIEEE Access
Discontinuous displacements pose a substantial challenge to image registration algorithms, which generally assume smooth deformations. Two prominent cases occur in 4DCT lung scans.

Analysis of effects of geological structures in rock driving by TBM [PDF]

open access: yesActa Montanistica Slovaca, 2006
Although mechanical properties belongs to important parameter for the excavation modelling, effect of geological structures on the rock massive fragmentation is often much higher than varying rock properties.
