Programmable Stepwise Heteroepitaxial Growth of Colloidal Crystals With Different Phases

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Stepwise heteroepitaxial growth is adapted to colloidal crystal engineering with DNA, enabling face‐centered cubic (fcc) facets to grow on body‐centered cubic (bcc) crystals with 110 facets. This approach tolerates large lattice mismatches, extending heteroepitaxy beyond the limits of conventional atomic systems.

Efficient Osmotic Energy Conversion Enabled by Self‐Standing COF Membranes With Varied Sulfonic Acid Group Density

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐standing, strong sulfonated covalent organic framework membranes with varied ionic‐group density are developed for osmotic energy conversion. Optimized charge‐governed nanochannels enable highly selective ion transport, delivering a power density of 24.53 W m−2 under seawater/freshwater salinity gradients.

Surface‐Functionalized LLZO‐Incorporated Multilayer Composite Solid Electrolytes for Dendrite Suppression and Efficient Ionic Conduction in Lithium–Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A soft–hard tri‐layer composite electrolyte that couples fast Li+ transport with reinforced interfacial stability to enable high‐conductivity, mechanically robust, dendrite‐free lithium‐metal batteries. ABSTRACT The development of solid polymer electrolytes is central to safe, high‐energy lithium‐metal batteries (LMBs); however, persistent challenges ...

On weak uniqueness for some diffusions with discontinuous coefficients

open access: yes, 2004
Several situations when one can prove weak uniqueness of solutions of Itô equations with discontinuous or/and degenerate coefficients are presented. In particular, the cases are considered in which the set of discontinuity is a cone, or a straight line ...

Phase Diagrams Enable Solid‐State Battery Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Batteries are non‐equilibrium devices with inherent thermodynamic driving forces to react at interfaces, regardless of kinetics or operating conditions. Chemical potential mismatches across interfaces are dissipated via interfacial reactions. In this work, it is illustrated how phase diagrams and chemical potential maps predict degradation pathways but

Imbedding estimates and elliptic equations with discontinuous coefficients in unbounded domain

open access: yesLe Matematiche, 1996
In this paper we deal with the multiplication operator u ∈ W^{k,p} (Ω) → gu ∈ L^q (Ω), with g belonging to a space of Morrey type. We apply our results in order to establish an a-priori bound for the solutions of the Dirichlet problem concerning elliptic

Composite Finite Elements for Elliptic Boundary Value Problems with Discontinuous Coefficients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper, we will introduce composite finite elements for solving elliptic boundary value problems with discontinuous coefficients. The focus is on problems where the geometry of the interfaces between the smooth regions of the coefficients is very ...

Solution Methods for Nonsymmetric Linear Systems with Large off-Diagonal Elements and Discontinuous Coefficients

open access: yes, 2009
Linear systems with very large off-diagonal elements and discontinuous coefficients (LODC systems) arise in some modeling cases, such as those involving heterogeneous media.

The Relationship Between Semiclassical Laguerre Polynomials and the Fourth Painlevé Equation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We discuss the relationship between the recurrence coefficients of orthogonal polynomials with respect to a semiclassical Laguerre weight and classical solutions of the fourth Painlevé equation. We show that the coefficients in these recurrence relations
