Continuum Mechanics Modeling of Flexible Spring Joints in Surgical Robots
A new mechanical model of a tendon‐actuated helical extension spring joint in surgical robots is built using Cosserat rod theory. The model can implicitly handle the unknown contacts between adjacent coils and numerically predict spring shapes from straight to significantly bent under actuation forces.

Aspects of Bifurcation Theory for Piecewise-Smooth, Continuous Systems
Systems that are not smooth can undergo bifurcations that are forbidden in smooth systems. We review some of the phenomena that can occur for piecewise-smooth, continuous maps and flows when a fixed point or an equilibrium collides with a surface on ...

This work presents a state‐adaptive Koopman linear quadratic regulator framework for real‐time manipulation of a deformable swab tool in robotic environmental sampling. By combining Koopman linearization, tactile sensing, and centroid‐based force regulation, the system maintains stable contact forces and high coverage across flat and inclined surfaces.

Double-slit and electromagnetic models to complete quantum mechanics
We analyze a realistic microscopic model for electronic scattering with the neutral differential delay equations of motion of point charges of the Wheeler-Feynman electrodynamics.

Active Metamaterials with Tunable Shear Nonreciprocity and Nonlinear Dynamics
Active gear‐based mechanical metamaterials enable simultaneous control of translational and torsional stiffnesses by 30–100×, break shear reciprocity under positive versus negative loads, broadly tune resonant frequencies, and offer programmable dynamic responses.

Andronov-Hopf Bifurcations in Planar, Piecewise-Smooth, Continuous Flows
An equilibrium of a planar, piecewise-$C^1$, continuous system of differential equations that crosses a curve of discontinuity of the Jacobian of its vector field can undergo a number of discontinuous or border-crossing bifurcations.

Algorithms and Data Structures for Multi-Adaptive Time-Stepping [PDF]
Multi-adaptive Galerkin methods are extensions of the standard continuous and discontinuous Galerkin methods for the numerical solution of initial value problems for ordinary or partial differential equations.

We propose a residual‐based adversarial‐gradient moving sample (RAMS) method for scientific machine learning that treats samples as trainable variables and updates them to maximize the physics residual, thereby effectively concentrating samples in inadequately learned regions.

The Solution of the Extended 16th Hilbert Problem for Some Classes of Piecewise Differential Systems
The limit cycles have a main role in understanding the dynamics of planar differential systems, but their study is generally challenging. In the last few years, there has been a growing interest in researching the limit cycles of certain classes of ...

Review of modern numerical methods for a simple vanilla option pricing problem [PDF]
Option pricing is a very attractive issue of financial engineering and optimization. The problem of determining the fair price of an option arises from the assumptions made under a given financial market model.
