Free-energy-dissipative schemes for the Oldroyd-B model [PDF]
In this article, we analyze the stability of various numerical schemes for differential models of viscoelastic fluids. More precisely, we consider the prototypical Oldroyd-B model, for which a free energy dissipation holds, and we show under which ...

Hierarchical multi‐material TPMS lattices are engineered as flexible tactile sensors by combining soft and stiff elastomeric layers with a conformal conductive coating. The bilayer architecture delivers sensitivity at low pressures while maintaining a broad detectable range under large loads, enabling reliable pressure and vibration monitoring for ...

The discontinuous Galerkin method for fractional degenerate convection-diffusion equations [PDF]
We propose and study discontinuous Galerkin methods for strongly degenerate convection-diffusion equations perturbed by a fractional diffusion (L\'evy) operator. We prove various stability estimates along with convergence results toward properly defined (

Continuum Mechanics Modeling of Flexible Spring Joints in Surgical Robots
A new mechanical model of a tendon‐actuated helical extension spring joint in surgical robots is built using Cosserat rod theory. The model can implicitly handle the unknown contacts between adjacent coils and numerically predict spring shapes from straight to significantly bent under actuation forces.

Smooth and compactly supported viscous sub-cell shock capturing for Discontinuous Galerkin methods
In this work, a novel artificial viscosity method is proposed using smooth and compactly supported viscosities. These are derived by revisiting the widely used piecewise constant artificial viscosity method of Persson and Peraire as well as the piecewise

This work presents a state‐adaptive Koopman linear quadratic regulator framework for real‐time manipulation of a deformable swab tool in robotic environmental sampling. By combining Koopman linearization, tactile sensing, and centroid‐based force regulation, the system maintains stable contact forces and high coverage across flat and inclined surfaces.

A strategy to suppress recurrence in grid-based Vlasov solvers
In this paper we propose a strategy to suppress the recurrence effect present in grid-based Vlasov solvers. This method is formulated by introducing a cutoff frequency in Fourier space.

Limit cycles in an $ m $-piecewise discontinuous polynomial differential system
In this paper, I study a planar $ m $-piecewise discontinuous polynomial differential system $ \dot{x} = y, \dot{y} = -x-\varepsilon(f(x, y)+g_m(x, y)h(x)) $, which has a linear center in each zone partitioned by those switching lines, where $ f(x, y) = \

Active Metamaterials with Tunable Shear Nonreciprocity and Nonlinear Dynamics
Active gear‐based mechanical metamaterials enable simultaneous control of translational and torsional stiffnesses by 30–100×, break shear reciprocity under positive versus negative loads, broadly tune resonant frequencies, and offer programmable dynamic responses.

Andronov-Hopf Bifurcations in Planar, Piecewise-Smooth, Continuous Flows
An equilibrium of a planar, piecewise-$C^1$, continuous system of differential equations that crosses a curve of discontinuity of the Jacobian of its vector field can undergo a number of discontinuous or border-crossing bifurcations.
