Power loss study of inverter-fed machine drives using Discontinuous Pulse Width Modulation

2008 IEEE International Conference on Sustainable Energy Technologies, 2008
This paper presents a power loss study of a machine drive system using discontinuous pulse width modulation (DPWM) excitation. Pspice modeling has been used in the inverter loss prediction, and for the machine loss analysis, finite element analysis (FEA) is employed.

Simple Neutral-Point Voltage Control for Three-Level Inverters Using a Discontinuous Pulse Width Modulation

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2013
This paper proposes a neutral-point voltage balancing method for a three-level inverter that uses discontinuous pulse width modulation (DPWM). The performance of a three-level inverter system is affected by the neutral-point voltage unbalancing. Therefore, the voltages of series connected dc-link capacitors should be equal.

Discontinuous Pulse Width Modulation Techniques for Modular Multilevel Converter

2020 IEEE International Students' Conference on Electrical,Electronics and Computer Science (SCEECS), 2020
Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) has already been strongly found its application in high voltage applications, and is lately been explored in medium voltage applications. The modulation techniques play an important role in the performance of the MMC in terms of the output fundamental component, distortions and the switching losses.

Origin-shifted multilevel discontinuous pulse width modulation

The Fifth International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems, 2003. PEDS 2003., 2004
Pulse width modulation of two-level power converters is presently well established with most reported strategies focusing on the minimisation of line voltage harmonic distortion. For multilevel inverter modulation, additional performance merits can be achieved through the proper selection of available redundant switching states. This paper presents the

POWER SPECTRAL DENSITY OF DUAL RANDOMIZED DISCONTINUOUS PULSE WIDTH MODULATION

REVUE ROUMAINE DES SCIENCES TECHNIQUES — SÉRIE ÉLECTROTECHNIQUE ET ÉNERGÉTIQUE, 2023
This paper addresses the spectral characteristics of a carrier-based dual randomized discontinuous pulse width modulation (DRDPWM) technique for reducing conducted EMI and switching losses in three-phase voltage source inverters. It combines two simple random schemes, random carrier frequency modulation (RCF-DPWM) and random pulse position modulation ...

An adaptive Discontinuous Pulse Width Modulation (DPWM) method for three phase inverter

2017 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC), 2017
This paper presents an adaptive Discontinuous Pulse Width Modulation (DPWM) method for three phase inverter. A common-mode (CM) signal is injected in the modulation wave to realize the DPWM and the waveform of the injected CM signal is modulated according to the modulation index of the inverter.

A study of inverter loss reduction using discontinuous pulse width modulation techniques

3rd IET International Conference on Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD 2006), 2006
In this paper, the reduction in inverter losses by using various forms of Discontinuous Pulse Width Modulation (DPWM) scheme is investigated. Models for various forms of DPWM excitation have been implemented using Pspice and these have been combined with an existing model for a three-phase voltage source inverter.

Performance Analysis of Discontinuous Pulse Width Modulation Schemes on PUC-5 Inverter

2018 2nd IEEE International Conference on Power Electronics, Intelligent Control and Energy Systems (ICPEICES), 2018
Considerable research is being carried out on the effect of the choice of PWM scheme on inverter performance. Discontinuous PWM schemes, initially developed by “Depenbrock” in 1977, has become one of the most promising modern PWM methods. This modulation scheme is also known as “Depenbrock PWM” scheme. In this paper the discontinuous modulation schemes

Output Voltage Sampling Circuit for Discontinuous Conduction Mode Flyback Pulse-Width Modulation Controller

Journal of Circuits, Systems and Computers, 2016
Primary-side controlled pulse-width modulation (PWM) flyback converter has been widely used in low-power and low-voltage products for its simple structure and low cost. This paper presents a novel output voltage sampling circuit which considers the influence of the rectifier diode current on the output voltage sampling.
