Submarine groundwater discharge and associated nutrient fluxes to Discovery Bay, Jamaica
Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science, 2019Abstract Submarine groundwater discharge (SGD) and associated fluxes of nutrients were investigated in Discovery Bay, Jamaica during the early 2000's. The flow of water discharging from submerged springs was measured using hand-held flow meters while diffuse seepage was evaluated using Lee-type seepage meters.

Sorafenib (BAY 43-9006) in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients: From Discovery to Clinical Development
Current Medicinal Chemistry, 2012Angiogenesis and signaling through the RAS/RAF/mitogen-activated protein/extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) kinase (MEK)/ERK cascade have been reported to play important roles in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Sorafenib (Nexavar), a novel bi-aryl urea BAY 43-9006, is an orally administered multikinase inhibitor with ...

Variation in coral growth rates with depth at Discovery Bay, Jamaica
Coral Reefs, 1985Growth rates, determined by X-radiographic measurement of skeletal extension, decreased with depth for four of six species of coral examined at Discovery Bay, Jamaica. Growth of Porites astreoides, Montastrea annularis, Colpophyllia natans, and Siderastrea siderea decreased significantly with depth over a 1- to 30-m depth range. In Montastrea cavernosa,

Seismological Discovery and Partial Detail of Vermilion Bay Salt Dome, Louisiana
AAPG Bulletin, 1932The Vermilion Bay salt dome in Iberia Parish, Louisiana, was one of the first discovered by a geophysical survey of water-covered areas. The field organization and equipment of such a crew is described. The discovery and detail data are presented, along with the original interpretation of these data. The results of drilling are shown, and the agreement

Discovery of BAY-985, a highly selective TBK1/IKK epsilon inhibitor.
2020The serine/threonine kinase TBK1 (TANK-binding kinase 1) and its homologue IKK epsilon are noncanonical members of the inhibitor of the nuclear factor kappa B (I kappa B) kinase family. These kinases play important roles in multiple cellular pathways and, in particular, in inflammation.
