A discrete event model for real time system simulation

open access: yesJournal of Computer Science and Technology, 2012
In this work we present a discrete event model to design and implement a real time system simulator. This kind of software is useful to verify and evaluate algorithms and models, and to compute performance metrics. The discrete event model fits perfectly

Building a Framework for Sexual and Reproductive Health Care in the Rheumatology Context: Content and Approaches

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
People with systemic autoimmune and rheumatic diseases (SARDs) are at higher risk than the general population of experiencing adverse pregnancy and perinatal outcomes such as preeclampsia, intrauterine growth restriction, and maternal and/or fetal death.

Revisiting strong detectability of networked discrete-event systems

open access: yes, 2020
In this paper, we propose a new notion of strong networked detectability of networked discrete-event systems (DESs) modeled by finite-state automata (FSAs) with respect to a first-in, first-out channel with communication losses and bounded transmission ...

Clinical, Histologic, and Serological Predictors of Renal Function Loss in Lupus Nephritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Kidney survival is the ultimate goal in lupus nephritis (LN) management, but long‐term predictors remain inadequately studied, requiring long‐term follow‐up. This study aimed to identify baseline and early longitudinal predictors of kidney survival in the Accelerating Medicines Partnership LN longitudinal cohort.

On the Convergence of Global Rational Approximants for Stochastic Discrete Event Systems

open access: yes, 1997
We study the convergence properties of some rational approximants for stochastic discrete event systems. Examples of the systems considered include computer and communication systems and general distributed and parallel processing systems.

On the Design of Adaptive Supervisors for Discrete Event Systems [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics, 2006
The supervised control of complex event-driven Discrete Event Systems (DESs) such as those present in manufacturing systems, or the communication processes involved therein, continue to pose a challenge to system designers.

Adaptive Observer for Coupled Wave PDE and Infinite ODE With Sampled Data and Unknown Input: Application to Brain Hemodynamics Estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Supervisor Design for Minimal Event Observation in Discrete Event Systems: A Linear Programming Approach

open access: yesMathematics
This paper studies the supervisory control of discrete event systems (DESs) from an event observation perspective and addresses the problem of supervisor design with minimal observation.
