A discrete artificial bee colony algorithm for the traveling salesman problem with time windows [PDF]
This paper presents a discrete artificial bee colony algorithm (DABC) for solving the traveling salesman problem with time windows (TSPTW) in order to minimize the total travel cost of a given tour. TSPTW is a difficult optimization problem arising in both scheduling and logistic applications.

Ensemble Kalman filter in latent space using a variational autoencoder pair
The use of the ensemble Kalman filter (EnKF) in strongly nonlinear or constrained atmospheric, oceanographic, or sea‐ice models can be challenging. Applying the EnKF in the latent space of a variational autoencoder (VAE) ensures that the ensemble members satisfy the balances and constraints present in the model.

Exploration of new wildlife surveying methodologies that leverage advances in sensor technology and machine learning has led to tentative research into the application of seismology techniques. This, most commonly, involves the deployment of a footfall trap – a seismic sensor and data logger customised for wildlife footfall.
