Patients’ preferences for primary health care – a systematic literature review of discrete choice experiments

open access: yesBMC Health Services Research, 2017
Background Primary care is a key element of health care systems and addresses the main health problems of the population. Due to the demographic change, primary care even gains in importance.

A Lightweight Procedural Layer for Hybrid Experimental–Computational Workflows in Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We unveil a prototype hybrid‐workflow framework that fuses automatedcomputation with hands‐on experiments. Built atop pyiron, a lightweight, parameterized layer translates procedure descriptions into executable manual steps, syncing instrument settings, human interventions, and data capture in real‐time today.

Policy interventions that attract nurses to rural areas: a multicountry discrete choice experiment. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the relative effectiveness of different policies in attracting nurses to rural areas in Kenya, South Africa and Thailand using data from a discrete choice experiment (DCE). METHODS: A labelled DCE was designed to model the relative

Soft Mechanical‐Electrical Logic Using Liquid Metal‐Filled 3D‐Printed Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present 3D‐printed soft mechanical–electrical logic elements that use liquid metal–filled silicone tubes actuated by thermoplastic polyurethane/polylactic acid (TPU/PLA) architectures to produce Boolean operations. Complementary normally open and normally closed unit cells perform repeatable binary transitions and can be combined into more complex ...

Effects of alternative elicitation formats in discrete choice experiments

open access: yes
An elicitation format prevalently applied in discrete choice experiments (DCEs) offers each respondent a sequence of choice tasks. Each choice task contains more than two choice options.

Toward Knowledge‐Based Workflows: A Semantic Approach to Atomistic Simulations for Mechanical and Thermodynamic Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Knowledge‐based atomistic workflows are presented for mechanical and thermodynamic properties. By coupling modular simulations with ontology‐aligned metadata and provenance, Fe case studies on elastic behavior, defects, thermal properties, and Hall–Petch strengthening reveal how FAIR, queryable, and reusable simulation data can be generated. Mechanical

Discrete Choice Survey Experiments: A Comparison Using Flexible Models [PDF]

open access: yes
This study investigates the convergent validity of discrete choice contingent valuation (CV) and contingent rating/ranking (CR) methods using flexible econometric methods. Our results suggest that CV and CR can produce consistent data (achieve convergent

Steps of a Discrete Choice Experiment

open access: yes
Abstract This chapter provides an overview of the key steps of conducting a discrete choice experiment (DCE). We begin with the research questions guiding the study design, move through several design issues related to the DCE and the questionnaire, and conclude with important considerations for the model estimation and post ...

Experimental Characterization and Constitutive Modeling of the Effect of Prior Inelastic Strain on the Viscoplastic Behavior of AD730 at 700 °C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.

Choosing wisely: using discrete choice experiments with experts to inform conservation action

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters
Conservation actions often rely on expert knowledge. Ensuring that expert elicitation is broadly inclusive, analyzed rigorously, and cost effective is challenging.
