Aggregation in Hierarchical Discrete-Event Systems
Discrete Event Dynamic Systems, 2003The authors elaborate on the hierarchical partition of automata-based discrete-event systems and provide algorithms which can be applied in practical applications. In the first part of the paper, they focus on the question of how to obtain a decomposition of a hierarchical system.

Active diagnosis of discrete event systems
Proceedings of the 36th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 1998Summary: The need for accurate and timely diagnosis of system failures and the advantages of automated diagnostic systems are well appreciated. However, diagnosability considerations are often not explicitly taken into account in the system design. In particular, design of the controller and that of the diagnostic subsystem are decoupled, and this may ...

Discrete Event System Specification
2012In this chapter, the classic DEVS formalism from Zeigler et al. will be introduced. It will be discussed in depth, which properties of the DEVS MoC impedes its exploitation for a hardware / software co-design flow. Thus, the SynDEVS MoC will be introduced which thoroughly refines the DEVS MoC to allow synthesis of SynDEVS models.

Discrete Event System Simulation
Simulated systems are used for modelling and analysis of systems for which an analytical solution is either not accessible or difficult to achieve. Simulation is a highly flexible and adaptable discipline within computer science. Because it is simpler than conventional approaches, which are often challenging, simulation is also chosen as a method of ...J. Vijayarangam +2 more

Explanatory Monitoring of Discrete-Event Systems
2020Model-based diagnosis was first proposed for static systems, where the values of the input and output variables are given at a single time point and the root cause of an observed misbehavior is a set of faults. This set-oriented perspective of the diagnosis results was later adopted also for dynamical systems, although it fits neither the temporal ...

Model Uncertainty in Discrete Event Systems
SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, 1995The authors present a model of uncertainty related to the transitions of systems, modelled with finite state machines. In detail, given a plant, we have a number of possible models of the plant, but only one is the correct model. An algorithm is given to construct a supervisor which can identify the correct model, if the uncertainties can be ...
