A New Method for Generating Discrete Analogues of Continuous Distributions

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Theory and Applications (JSTA), 2018
In this paper we use discrete fractional calculus for showing the existence of delta and nabla discrete distributions and then apply time scales for definition of delta and nabla discrete gamma distributions.

Tuning the Selectivity of the CO2 Reduction Reaction by Means of Synergistic Interactions in the Cu, Ag, Ce System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multi‐metal Cu─Ce─Ag nanoparticles harness synergistic interactions to drive efficient electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction toward C2+ products at high current densities. Ag enhances CO production, Ce modulates Cu oxidation states, and together they boost *CO coverage and local pH to enhance C─C coupling, enabling record C2+ yields with suppressed ...

Fractional Laplacian matrix on the finite periodic linear chain and its periodic Riesz fractional derivative continuum limit

open access: yes, 2014
The 1D discrete fractional Laplacian operator on a cyclically closed (periodic) linear chain with finitenumber $N$ of identical particles is introduced. We suggest a "fractional elastic harmonic potential", and obtain the $N$-periodic fractionalLaplacian

Fractional Derivative Regularization in QFT

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper, we propose new regularization, where integer-order differential operators are replaced by fractional-order operators. Regularization for quantum field theories based on application of the Riesz fractional derivatives of non-integer orders ...

Zwitterionic Self‐Assembled Monolayer for Simultaneous Noise Suppression and Hole Extraction in High‐Performance Near‐Infrared Organic Photodetectors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a new hole transporting material (HTM) mechanism for self‐assembled monolayers in near‐infrared organic photodetectors. The formation of zwitterions induces a strong electric field that significantly increases the work function of HTM‐coated indium tin oxide substrates. The devices exhibit low dark current and noise, along with high

Fractional variational calculus of variable order

open access: yes, 2012
We study the fundamental problem of the calculus of variations with variable order fractional operators. Fractional integrals are considered in the sense of Riemann-Liouville while derivatives are of Caputo type.Comment: Submitted 26-Sept-2011; accepted ...

Discrete direct methods in the fractional calculus of variations

open access: yesComputers & Mathematics with Applications, 2013
Finite differences, as a subclass of direct methods in the calculus of variations, consist in discretizing the objective functional using appropriate approximations for derivatives that appear in the problem. This article generalizes the same idea for fractional variational problems.

Quasi‐Static to Supersonic Energy Absorption of Nanoarchitected Tubulanes and Schwarzites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanoarchitected energy‐absorptive Tubulanes exhibit record energy absorption under quasi‐static conditions and exceptional inelastic energy dissipation under 750 m s−1 ballistics impact, with high performance spanning strain rates of 12 orders of magnitude.

Sum and Difference Compositions in Discrete Fractional Calculus [PDF]

open access: yesCubo (Temuco), 2011
Introducimos operadores de suma y diferencia fraccionaria, estudiamos su comportamiento y desarrollamos una teoria completa que rige sus composiciones. Aplicamos esta teoría para resolver un problema fraccionado de valor inicial. We introduce fractional sum and difference operators, study their behavior and develop a complete theory governing their ...

High‐Resolution and Real‐Time In Situ Generation of Cellular Spheroids by Laser‐Assisted Bioprinting for Guided Microvascularization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Micro‐injection laser‐assisted bioprinting enables ultrafast and precise patterning of small endothelial cell spheroids by injecting a highly concentrated single‐cell suspension into GelMA/ColMA hydrogels. In co‐culture with fibroblasts, controlled pre‐vasculogenic network formation is obtained at microscale resolution.
