Discrete-Continuous Structural Optimization

Methods for structural optimization problems having discrete variables, or a mix of discrete and continuous variables, are treated. The original problem is replaced by a sequence of approximate, sub-problems of a more favourable structure. A method using a generalized Lagrangian function is presented. The primal minimization over the discrete variables
