Investigation of Iron‐Aluminide‐Like Phase Composition in Complex Concentrated Fe32Cu12Ni11Ti16Al29 Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work reveals the phase composition and quantitative morphology analysis of precipitation‐hardened Fe32Cu12Ni11Ti16Al29 complex‐concentrated alloy. The precipitates are shown to have a high coherency. Morphology transition between sphere, cuboidal, and elongated morphology is observed. Finally, the overaging behavior is captured using microhardness.

A Simulative Evaluation of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Structures in the Context of Elastocaloric Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simulative evaluation of triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) structures for an elastocaloric application under compressive load is performed. For the evaluation of the structure's performance, surface/volume ratio, generated heat and invested mechanical work are taken into account and are compared to a tube as a reference specimen.

Structured Sparsity: Discrete and Convex Approaches [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Compressive sensing (CS) exploits sparsity to recover sparse or compressible signals from dimensionality reducing, non-adaptive sensing mechanisms. Sparsity is also used to enhance interpretability in machine learning and statistics applications: While the ambient dimension is vast in modern data analysis problems, the relevant information therein ...

Study of the Effect of Process Parameters and Heat Treatment on the Formation and Evolution of Directed Energy Deposition of IN718‐CuCrZr Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Bimetallic structures of Inconel 718 and CuCrZr are fabricated using the laser powder directed energy deposition method. The study reveals a strong dependence of interface characteristics such as width and interfusion on processing and heat treatment strategies.

NEW TIN (IV), MX2 AND M’Cl3 (M= Zn, Hg; M’= Pr, Er) ADDUCTS AND COMPLEXES OF BIS(AMINOMETHYLBENZENE): SYNTHESIS AND INFRARED STUDY

open access: yesScientific Study & Research: Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Food Industry, 2015
The new adducts and complexes obtained have discrete or dimeric structures; in these structures the diamine behaves as a monodentate and hydrogen bonds involved or bidentate ligand.

Soft Beats: A Dielectric Elastomer‐Based Ventricular Assist Device for Next‐Gen Heart Failure Management

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The dielectric elastomer‐based electropneumatic device (DE‐EPD) is a vacuum‐assisted ventricular assist device (VAD) that delivers high performance (85 mmHg, 6.8 L min−1) with low power consumption. Unlike traditional motor‐driven VADs, it is lightweight, quiet, energy‐efficient, and provides pulsatile flow. Validated in a simulated circulation system,

SOME SULFATO ADDUCTS AND DERIVATIVE: SYNTHESIS AND SPECTROSCOPIC STUDY

open access: yesScientific Study & Research: Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Food Industry, 2014
Three new adducts and derivative have been synthesized and studied by infrared and NMR spectroscopies. The suggested structures are discrete with a sulfate behaving as a monochelating, bichelating or monodentate ligand, the environments around the tin ...

On Discretely Structured Growth Models and Their Moments

open access: yesBulletin of Mathematical Biology
Abstract The logistic equation is ubiquitous in applied mathematics as a minimal model of saturating growth. Here, we examine a broad generalisation of the logistic growth model to discretely structured populations, motivated by examples that range from the ageing of individuals in a species to immune cell exhaustion by cancerous tissue ...
