Arithmeticity of discrete subgroups
Ergodic Theory and Dynamical Systems, 2020AbstractThe topic of this course is the discrete subgroups of semisimple Lie groups. We discuss a criterion that ensures that such a subgroup is arithmetic. This criterion is a joint work with Sébastien Miquel, which extends previous work of Selberg and Hee Oh and solves an old conjecture of Margulis.

Arithmeticity of Discrete Subgroups and Automorphic Forms
Geometric And Functional Analysis, 1998The authors have obtained a very interesting result which establishes a connection between 1) the arithmeticity of a noncompact lattice \(\Gamma\) in the group \(PSL_2(\mathbb{R})\) and 2) the existence of a cuspidal automorphic form \(f\) in \(L^2 [\Gamma\setminus G]\), whose Dirichlet series \(L(s,f)\) has a local factor at a finite prime \(p\).

ARITHMETIC PROPERTIES OF DISCRETE SUBGROUPS
Russian Mathematical Surveys, 1974That the factor space of a semisimple Lie group by an arithmetic subgroup has finite volume with respect to Haar measure is well known. In this paper we study results related to the converse of this theorem. In particular, under some rather weak assumptions on a semisimple Lie group G we prove that every discrete subgroup of G with a non-compact factor

On discrete subgroups of Lie groups (II)
The Annals of Mathematics, 19621. This is a continuation of my paper [7] with the same title, which will be referred to as D', and which has to be supplemented in the manner described below in Appendix I. Indeed, the present paper is nothing else than a combination of the ideas of D' with the method of variation of structure, as applied to special types of semisimple groups by ...

Discrete Subgroups of the Euclidean Group
2001Since the Euclidean group \(\mathbb{E}\) has continuously many elements: $$ \left| \mathbb{E} \right| = \left| \mathbb{R} \right| = c, $$ it has 2csubsets, and each of these generates a subgroup. So, to avoid bewilderment, it is necessary to place some restriction on the class of subgroups to be investigated.

Discretization in Subgroup Discovery
2016Subgroup discovery is a data mining technique to discoverer interesting subgroups from a selected population. It seeks to discover interesting relationships between different objects in a set with respect to a specific property. The discovered patterns are called subgroups and they are represented in the form of rules.

Discreteness of lattices of closed subgroups of lie groups
Ukrainian Mathematical Journal, 1986Let G be a locally compact group and let L(G) be the set of all closed subgroups of G. The family \(\{\) \(F\in L(G) :\) \(H\subseteq F\subseteq HU\}\) forms the base of a topology \(\tau\) on L(G) (H\(\in L(G)\), U runs over a neighbourhood base of unit of G). It is proved that the space \(L_{\tau}(G)\) is discrete iff G is a Lie group.
