A wavelet-based method for the determination of the relative resolution between remotely sensed images [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Spatial resolution is a key parameter of all remote sensing satellites and platforms. The nominal spatial resolution of satellites is a well-known characteristic because it is directly related to the area in ground that represents a pixel in the detector.

Beyond Presumptions: Toward Mechanistic Clarity in Metal‐Free Carbon Catalysts for Electrochemical H2O2 Production via Data Science

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐free carbon catalysts enable the sustainable synthesis of hydrogen peroxide via two‐electron oxygen reduction; however, active site complexity continues to hinder reliable interpretation. This review critiques correlation‐based approaches and highlights the importance of orthogonal experimental designs, standardized catalyst passports ...

Introduction of sensor spectral response into image fusion methods. Application to wavelet-based methods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Usual image fusion methods inject features from a high spatial resolution panchromatic sensor into every low spatial resolution multispectral band trying to preserve spectral signatures and improve spatial resolution to that of the panchromatic sensor ...

A Functional 2D Carbon Allotrope Combining Nanoporous Graphene and Biphenylene Segments

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis of a novel nanoporous graphene (NPG) is reported with biphenylene segments via thermal fusion of 12‐armchair porous graphene nanoribbons grown on gold surfaces. Characterization using STM, AFM, and DFT reveals low‐defect semiconducting behaviour and tunable band gaps.

Fractional Wavelet Transform Using an Unbalanced Lifting Structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this article, we introduce the concept of fractional wavelet transform. Using a two-channel unbalanced lifting structure it is possible to decompose a given discrete-time signal x[n] sampled with period T into two sub-signals x1[n] and x2[n] whose ...

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Lightweight Wavelet Convolutional U-Net for Seismic Phase Recognition

open access: yesIEEE Access
To reconcile the conflict between phase-picking accuracy and edge-deployment efficiency, this study proposes a Lightweight Wavelet Convolutional U-Net. The core originality lies in replacing standard sampling with an invertible wavelet paradigm.
