Generation of Synthetic Non-Homogeneous Fog by Discretized Radiative Transfer Equation

open access: yesJournal of Imaging
The synthesis of realistic fog in images is critical for applications such as autonomous navigation, augmented reality, and visual effects. Traditional methods based on Koschmieder’s law or GAN-based image translation typically assume homogeneous fog ...

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

A Novel Design of Random Number Generators Using Chaos-Based Extremum Coding

open access: yesIEEE Access
This paper proposes a new chaos-based extremum coding method to realize a true random number generator (RNG). Based on the chain rule, we innovatively introduce two parameters into the dynamics of chaotic systems to modulate the speed and amplitude of ...

Model structure and ensemble size: Implications for predictions of groundwater age

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2022
This paper examines the influence of simplified vertical discretization using 50- to four- layer models and ensemble size on history matching and predictions of groundwater age for a national scale model of New Zealand (approximately 265,000 km2).

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Discrete torsion [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2003
In this article we explain discrete torsion. Put simply, discrete torsion is the choice of orbifold group action on the B field. We derive the classification H^2(G, U(1)), we derive the twisted sector phases appearing in string loop partition functions, we derive M.

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.
