Oviposition behavior is not affected by ultraviolet light in a butterfly with sexually‐dimorphic expression of a UV‐sensitive opsin

Our study focuses on the evolution of sexual dimorphism of UV vision in Heliconius butterflies. Under naturalistic light conditions, we experimentally altered UV‐light availability using light filters to test the hypothesis that, in H. erato, UV vision is important for oviposition, a female‐specific behavior.
