Targeted metabolomics reveals novel diagnostic biomarkers for colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed targeted metabolomic profiling to identify 302 distinct metabolites present in platelet‐rich plasma (PRP), revealing aberrant metabolic profiles amongst individuals diagnosed with colorectal cancer (CRC). Compared to carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and cancer antigen 19‐9 (CA199), our metabolite panel showed improved sensitivity ...

Discriminative Principal Component Analysis: A REVERSE THINKING [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
In this paper, we propose a novel approach named by Discriminative Principal Component Analysis which is abbreviated as Discriminative PCA in order to enhance separability of PCA by Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA). The proposed method performs feature extraction by determining a linear projection that captures the most scattered discriminative ...

Statistical discrimination [PDF]

open access: yesThe Philosophers' Magazine, 2016
Racial discrimination uses race as grounds to discriminate in the treatment owed to others; sexual discrimination uses people's sexual features as grounds for determining how they should be treated compared to others. Analogously, statistical discrimination treats statistical inferences about the groups to which individuals belong as grounds for ...

Cell‐free DNA aneuploidy score as a dynamic early response marker in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
mFast‐SeqS‐based genome‐wide aneuploidy scores are concordant with aneuploidy scores obtained by whole genome sequencing from tumor tissue and can predict response to ARSI treatment at baseline and, at an early time point, to ARSI and taxanes. This assay can be easily performed at low cost and requires little input of cfDNA. Cell‐free circulating tumor

Peripheral blood proteome biomarkers distinguish immunosuppressive features of cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Immune status significantly influences cancer progression. This study used plasma proteomics to analyze benign 67NR and malignant 4T1 breast tumor models at early and late tumor stages. Immune‐related proteins–osteopontin (Spp1), lactotransferrin (Ltf), calreticulin (Calr) and peroxiredoxin 2 (Prdx2)–were associated with systemic myeloid‐derived ...

Unambiguous discrimination between mixed quantum states based on programmable quantum state discriminators [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
We discuss the problem of designing an unambiguous programmable discriminator for mixed quantum states. We prove that there does not exist such a universal unambiguous programmable discriminator for mixed quantum states that has two program registers and one data register.

Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.
