Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) trajectories predict survival in trifluridine/tipiracil‐treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The authors applied joint/mixed models that predict mortality of trifluridine/tipiracil‐treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients based on circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) trajectories. Patients at high risk of death could be spared aggressive therapy with the prospect of a higher quality of life in their remaining lifetime, whereas patients with a ...

Achieving non-discrimination in prediction [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Discrimination-aware classification is receiving an increasing attention in data science fields. The pre-process methods for constructing a discrimination-free classifier first remove discrimination from the training data, and then learn the classifier from the cleaned data.

Integrative analysis of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and exosomes from small‐cell lung cancer (SCLC) patients: a comprehensive approach

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study simultaneously investigated circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and exosomes from small‐cell lung cancer (SCLC) patients. The elevated expression of JUNB and CXCR4 in CTCs was a poor prognostic factor for SCLC patients, whereas exosomal overexpression of these biomarkers revealed a high discrimination ability of patients from healthy individuals,

Combining Simple Discriminators for Object Discrimination [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We propose to combine simple discriminators for object discrimination under the maximum entropy framework or equivalently under the maximum likelihood framework for the exponential family. The duality between the maximum entropy framework and maximum likelihood framework allows us to relate two selection criteria for the discriminators that were ...

NanoCMSer: a consensus molecular subtype stratification tool for fresh‐frozen and paraffin‐embedded colorectal cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Consensus molecular subtypes (CMS1‐4) have been identified to study colorectal cancer heterogeneity and serve as potential biomarkers. In this study, we developed and evaluated NanoCMSer, a NanoString‐based classifier using 55 genes, optimized for FF and FFPE to facilitate the clinical evaluation of CMS subtyping.

PUTTING RACIAL EQUALITY ONTO THE GLOBAL HUMAN RIGHTS AGENDA

open access: yesSur: International Journal on Human Rights, 2018
Equality is generally marginalized within the global human rights agenda, and among those who wield power in the formation and execution of this agenda.

Isomorphisms of Discriminant Algebras [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
For each natural number $n$, we define a category whose objects are discriminant algebras in rank $n$, i.e. functorial means of attaching to each rank-$n$ algebra a quadratic algebra with the same discriminant. We show that the discriminant algebras defined in [2], [6], and [10] are all isomorphic in this category, and prove furthermore that in ranks ...

Addressing persistent challenges in digital image analysis of cancer tissue: resources developed from a hackathon

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Large multidimensional digital images of cancer tissue are becoming prolific, but many challenges exist to automatically extract relevant information from them using computational tools. We describe publicly available resources that have been developed jointly by expert and non‐expert computational biologists working together during a virtual hackathon

Discriminants of morphisms of sheaves [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2009
The aim of this paper is to give a unified definition of a large class of discriminants arising in algebraic geometry using the discriminant of a morphism of locally free sheaves. The discriminant of a morphism of locally free sheaves has a geometric definition in terms of grassmannian bundles, tautological sequences and projections and is a ...
