Fiber Bragg Gratings with Micro‐Engineered Temperature Coefficients
Fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) are intrinsically responsive to temperature and strain simultaneously. In this research, low‐loss FBGs with micro‐engineered temperature coefficients are fabricated, utilizing refractive index liquid‐filled microchannels in the cladding.

Introspective Generative Modeling: Decide Discriminatively [PDF]
We study unsupervised learning by developing introspective generative modeling (IGM) that attains a generator using progressively learned deep convolutional neural networks. The generator is itself a discriminator, capable of introspection: being able to self-evaluate the difference between its generated samples and the given training data.

Wireless Nano Irradiance Meter Based on Upconversion Luminescence Lifetime
A wireless nano irradiance meter is developed based on upconversion nanoparticles that enabled local readouts through their luminescence lifetime. This method allows for remote and precise light irradiance quantification in complex media, offering significant potential for light‐based technologies such as photodynamic therapy and nanothermometry ...

A Tutorial on Discriminative Clustering and Mutual Information [PDF]
To cluster data is to separate samples into distinctive groups that should ideally have some cohesive properties. Today, numerous clustering algorithms exist, and their differences lie essentially in what can be perceived as ``cohesive properties''.
