Effectiveness and Safety of Treatments for Early‐Stage Merkel Cell Carcinoma: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of Randomized and Non‐Randomized Studies

open access: yesCancer Medicine
Objective The lack of consensus on the benefits and harms of standard therapies, including surgery (SRx), radiotherapy (RTx), chemotherapy (CTx), and their combinations among early‐stage MCC, prompted this study.

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

A comprehensive analysis of the prognostic characteristics of microRNAs in breast cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics
Both overall survival (OS) and disease-specific survival (DSS) are significant when determining a patient’s prognosis for breast cancer (BC). The effect of DSS-related microRNAs on BC susrvival, however, is not well understood.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Machine learning prediction for early-stage melanoma outcomes: recurrence-free survival, disease-specific survival, and overall survival

open access: yes
ABSTRACT This study compared machine-learning models for predicting recurrence-free survival (RFS), disease-specific survival (DSS), and overall survival (OS) using clinicopathologic data from 1,621 stage I/II primary cutaneous melanoma patients.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Prognostic Significance of Ultralow (UL) Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) in Patients with Metastatic Hormone-Sensitive Prostate Cancer (mHSPC): A Single Institution and Tertiary Cancer Center Experience

open access: yesMedicina
Background and objectives: Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) concentration is considered an important prognostic marker, with rapid and large reductions associated with a favorable outcome and prolonged survival. Material and Methods: We conducted a single

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.
