Molecular and functional profiling unravels targetable vulnerabilities in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We used whole exome and RNA‐sequencing to profile divergent genomic and transcriptomic landscapes of microsatellite stable (MSS) and microsatellite instable (MSI) colorectal cancer. Alterations were classified using a computational score for integrative cancer variant annotation and prioritization.

Multiplex single‐cell profiling of putative cancer stem cell markers ALDH1, SOX9, SOX2, CD44, CD133 and CD15 in endometrial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer stem cells are associated with aggressive disease, but a deep characterization of such markers is lacking in endometrial cancer. This study uses imaging mass cytometry to explore putative cancer stem cell markers in endometrial tumors and corresponding organoid models.

Peripheral blood proteome biomarkers distinguish immunosuppressive features of cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Immune status significantly influences cancer progression. This study used plasma proteomics to analyze benign 67NR and malignant 4T1 breast tumor models at early and late tumor stages. Immune‐related proteins–osteopontin (Spp1), lactotransferrin (Ltf), calreticulin (Calr) and peroxiredoxin 2 (Prdx2)–were associated with systemic myeloid‐derived ...

CircCCNB1 inhibits vasculogenic mimicry by sequestering NF90 to promote miR‐15b‐5p and miR‐7‐1‐3p processing in nasopharyngeal carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CircCCNB1 expression is down‐regulated in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC); thus, less NF90 protein is bound to circCCNB1 and more binds to pri‐miRNAs, blocking their (pri‐miRNAs) binding to DGCR8 and inhibiting the processing and generation of miR‐15b‐5p/miR‐7‐1‐3p. Furthermore, decreased miR‐15b‐5p/miR‐7‐1‐3p promotes the expression of the target genes

Birth weight discordance and adverse neonatal outcomes in appropriately grown premature twins

open access: yesHeliyon
Objective: This study aimed to analyze the clinical characteristics of birth weight discordant twins (BWDT) who were premature and appropriate-for-gestational-age or large-for-gestational-age.

Multi-omics association study of DNA methylation and gene expression levels and diagnoses of cardiovascular diseases in Danish Twins

open access: yesClinical Epigenetics
Background Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are major causes of mortality and morbidity worldwide; yet the understanding of their molecular basis is incomplete.

SYN-LUNGS: Towards Simulating Lung Nodules with Anatomy-Informed Digital Twins for AI Training [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
AI models for lung cancer screening are limited by data scarcity, impacting generalizability and clinical applicability. Generative models address this issue but are constrained by training data variability. We introduce SYN-LUNGS, a framework for generating high-quality 3D CT images with detailed annotations.
