The Limits of Emotion in Moral Judgment [PDF]
I argue that our best science supports the rationalist idea that, independent of reasoning, emotions aren’t integral to moral judgment. There’s ample evidence that ordinary moral cognition often involves conscious and unconscious reasoning about an ...

Microrobotic Catheterization of the Ophthalmic Artery for Targeted Treatment of Retinoblastoma
A microrobotic platform is presented that allows teleoperated and autonomous navigation of flow‐driven magnetic microcatheters, MagFlow, into the ophthalmic artery for superselective intra‐arterial infusion of chemotherapy to treat retinoblastoma. Extensive benchtop validations with patient‐derived biomimetic phantoms under optical and fluoroscopic ...

Can You Feel it? How Asking Influences Reports of Psychophysiological States [PDF]
213 participants were shown a sequence of five different increasingly disgusting images. Depending on condition, they were either directly asked (solicited) or prompted to volunteer (unsolicited) whether or not they were experiencing disgust in response ...

Abstract Disgust constitutes an evolutionary adaptive defensive-avoidance response, yet humans vary markedly in their dispositional tendency to experience disgust (disgust propensity) and in their negative appraisal of such experience (disgust sensitivity).

Data‐Driven Modeling of Forces Exerted by Pneumatic Actuators for a Pediatric Exosuit
This work presents the experimental analysis and data‐driven modeling of the interaction forces between soft pneumatic actuators designed to assist upper‐extremity motion in a pediatric exosuit and an engineered test rig, across different experimental conditions: (A) force profiling of shoulder actuators, with varying actuator anchoring points and ...

Soft Artificial Ciliary Brush with Integrated Haptic Feedback for Efficient Airway Mucus Cleaning
A fundamental mucus cleaning mechanism is reported, which utilizes both artificial cilia mechanical sweeping and suction‐based mucus cleaning. A novel haptic feedback interface for the artificial cilia provides touch feedback on tissue contact, enhancing operator control and safety.

Evaluating Methods of Correcting for Multiple Comparisons Implemented in SPM12 in Social Neuroscience fMRI Studies: An Example from Moral Psychology [PDF]
In fMRI research, the goal of correcting for multiple comparisons is to identify areas of activity that reflect true effects, and thus would be expected to replicate in future studies.

Deep Learning Methods for Assessing Time‐Variant Nonlinear Signatures in Clutter Echoes
Motion classification from biosonar echoes in clutter presents a fundamental challenge: extracting structured information from stochastic interference. Deep learning successfully discriminates object speed and direction from bat‐inspired signals, achieving 97% accuracy with frequency‐modulated calls but only 48% with constant‐frequency tones. This work
