Current Perspectives on Disinfectant Modelling

open access: yes, 2015
Maintenance of a disinfectant residual within water distribution systems is the final barrier in protecting public health. Hydraulic modelling software can simulate the decay of residual but application is limited by reaction and network uncertainties ...

In situ evaluation of a persistent disinfectant provides continuous decontamination within the clinical environment.

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Infection Control, 2019
Microbial bioburden associated with the built environment can impact the rate of health care-associated infection acquisition; higher bioburden results in a greater incidence of health care-associated infections.

Nanoengineered Binetworks in Multifunctional Anionic Block Polymer Mesoblends for Improved Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Mesoblends consist of a nanostructured polymer into which a second polymer is imbibed with a selective solvent. In this work, a solvent‐templatable pentablock terpolymer possessing a sulfonated midblock is modified with a hydrophilic polymer that is photocrosslinked in situ, yielding a hierarchical binetwork.

Pull‐and‐Push Nanotherapeutic Hydrogels: Scavenging Inflammatory Triggers While Driving Tissue Regeneration in Burn Wounds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A nanounit‐assembled hydrogel employing a “pull‐and‐push” strategy simultaneously scavenges pro‐inflammatory cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and delivers regenerative therapeutics in response to burn‐induced hyperthermia. By repolarizing macrophages and promoting angiogenesis, this multifunctional platform accelerates burn wound healing, offering a blueprint for

Sericulture Mechanization Poses New Challenges for Environmental Disinfection—Evaluating the Effects of Three Newly Introduced Disinfectants

open access: yesAgriEngineering
While conventional sericulture has developed effective disinfection methods, the increasing demand for silk and pupae is driving mechanization, potentially altering or introducing silkworm pathogens.

Efficacy of an impression disinfectant solution after repeated use: An in vitro study

open access: yes
Statement of problem: There are very few studies using Benzalkonium Chloride (BAC) as an active disinfection agent for immersion techniques and there are no studies investigating the efficacy of repeated use of a disinfectant solution.

Modulating Nodal Outflows to Guarantee Sufficient Disinfectant Residuals in Water Distribution Networks

open access: yesJournal of water resources planning and management, 2019
Flushing plans within a water distribution network (WDN) provide a tool for improving disinfectant residuals and removing stagnant water. The problem of low disinfectant residuals occurs in areas of a WDN such as dead-end nodes, in which low flow ...
