Disparity Vergence Dynamics and Fixation Disparity

American journal of optometry and physiological optic, 1986
ABSTRACT The initial velocity of the vergence response to step changes in disparity was examined in two subjects as a function of the retinal locus and spatial frequency of fusion stimuli. Vergence velocity decreased for both subjects as retinal eccentricity increased and it was unaffected by spatial frequency.

Fixation Disparity

Optometry and Vision Science, 1989
ABSTRACT Fixation disparity may be a symptom of binocular stress or a purposeful error signal to drive vergence eye movements. Two similar units for detecting fixation disparity (Mallett and Sheedy units) are compared and evaluated. The Mallett unit was found to be more reliable, with similar readings in symptom‐free subjects, whereas

VERTICAL DISPARITIES

British Journal of Psychology, 1972
It has been suggested that stereopsis could be explained on a physiological and neuroanatomical basis. However, evidence on depth perception tends to rely on transversely disparate inputs. It was thought that if the explanation lies in the structures of the eye, vertical disparities might result in a depth perception also.

A Review of the Evidence for Disparities in Child vs Adult Health Care: A Disparity in Disparities

Journal of the National Medical Association, 2010
Racial and ethnic health disparities in primary care have been well documented in the US healthcare system. However, very little attention has been directed toward inequities in child health. The aim of this review is to provide context for the scope of the challenges associated with addressing pediatric health disparities in primary care by comparing ...

An Objective Evaluation for Disparity Map Based on the Disparity Gradient and Disparity Acceleration

2009 International Conference on Information Technology and Computer Science, 2009
In this paper, we present a novel objective approach to evaluate the disparity map quality. The two indices which are disparity gradient and disparity acceleration are first proposed for the evaluation of the disparity map. These two indices are under the assumption that the disparity map should be smooth in the natural scene.

Motion-Disparity Interaction and the Scaling of Stereoscopic Disparity

2001
Contemporary studies of visual perception often view the observer’s problem as one of estimation. In other words, the observer seeks to estimate various aspects of the scene, such as the size and shape of the objects in that scene. The information available to inform this estimation is viewed as consisting of one or more visual cues.

Integrating Disparity Images by Incorporating Disparity Rate

2008
Intelligent vehicle systems need to distinguish which objects are moving and which are static. A static concrete wall lying in the path of a vehicle should be treated differently than a truck moving in front of the vehicle. This paper proposes a new algorithm that addresses this problem, by providing dense dynamic depth information, while coping with ...
