open access: yesOrbis Litterarum, EarlyView.
Abstract To expose the pollution of marshes and swamps, whether by hydrocarbons or other contaminants, the French or Francophone author of the twentieth century must first confront a literary tradition that equates stagnant water with a volatile poison and, more broadly, wetlands with toxic environments. In his article “Wetland Gloom and Wetland Glory,”

A capture–recapture framework for combining biologging data with physical captures to decompose and estimate demographic rates: Simulations across life cycles and application to polar bears

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 2, Page 585-597, February 2026.
Abstract Estimating demographic rates of wild populations is critical to understanding their dynamics but can be challenging because large amounts of data are required, and parts of the life cycle of individuals may be unobserved. In numerous research programmes, capture–recapture (CR) data and biologging data are collected in parallel.

Understanding the water consumption associated with the use of hair care products: The impact of six hair characteristics on rinsing shampoos and conditioners

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, Volume 47, Issue 6, Page 1026-1042, December 2025.
Most water during a shower is used to rinse shampoo (average 7.1 L) and conditioner (average 6.3 L). We developed a methodology to test how rinsability varies according to hair characteristics, finding that hair length and volume significantly affect water use, while thickness, curliness, dryness and damage have little impact.

Calibrating an occupancy metric to monitor elusive territorial species at large scale: Application to the grey wolf population in France

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 6, Issue 4, October–December 2025.
As a cost‐effective alternative to abundance, we developed and calibrated a spatial metric to monitor elusive territorial species distributed over large areas. The spatial metric can provide three elements: annual maps of predicted presence, annual estimates of the total area occupied and evaluation of changes in occupancy at a local scale from year to

Five‐Year Time Series Reveals Short‐Term Blooms of Planktonic Fungi in a Coastal Mediterranean Site

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 4, August 2025.
Fungal dynamics at this northwestern Mediterranean marine site were characterised by short‐term blooms during which fungal ASVs accounted for a high fraction (up to 46%) of eukaryotic reads. The fungal community was dominated by a small number of ASVs, mostly non‐exclusive to the Mediterranean Sea or the marine environment.
