Disparate groups share cancer disparities
Trends in Cancer, 2022Due to historical and structural factors, underserved rural and racial/ethnic minorities suffer a disproportionate cancer burden based in part on common disparities they share. The time is ripe for cancer researchers to engage with these underserved populations to build trust in science and improve care for those they serve.

Disparity Vergence Dynamics and Fixation Disparity
Optometry and Vision Science, 1986The initial velocity of the vergence response to step changes in disparity was examined in two subjects as a function of the retinal locus and spatial frequency of fusion stimuli. Vergence velocity decreased for both subjects as retinal eccentricity increased and it was unaffected by spatial frequency.

Fixation disparity may be a symptom of binocular stress or a purposeful error signal to drive vergence eye movements. Two similar units for detecting fixation disparity (Mallett and Sheedy units) are compared and evaluated. The Mallett unit was found to be more reliable, with similar readings in symptom-free subjects, whereas the Sheedy unit gave a ...

It has been suggested that stereopsis could be explained on a physiological and neuroanatomical basis. However, evidence on depth perception tends to rely on transversely disparate inputs. It was thought that if the explanation lies in the structures of the eye, vertical disparities might result in a depth perception also.
