Under environmental changes, the expression level of neuropeptide (NP) and neuropeptide receptor (NPR) genes changes to confer context‐dependent adaptation to the model organism Drosophila melanogaster. Through finding more regulatory elements in the NPR genes in comparison with their ligands (NPs), we found that NPR‐biased transcriptional regulation ...

Literature Survey on Stereo Vision Disparity Map Algorithms
This paper presents a literature survey on existing disparity map algorithms. It focuses on four main stages of processing as proposed by Scharstein and Szeliski in a taxonomy and evaluation of dense two-frame stereo correspondence algorithms performed ...

The relationship between anabolic and catabolic processes governing lung cancer cell growth is nuanced. We show that ATG4B, an autophagy regulator, is elevated in lung cancer and that high ATG4B is associated with worse patient outcomes. Targeting ATG4B in cells reduces growth, protein synthesis, and mTORC1 activity, demonstrating a new relationship ...

Card games are effective tools to enhance foundation year health and safety inductions
A series of three card games was developed to actively deliver health and safety education to foundation year students. Most students reported positive responses regarding their enjoyment (89.9 %) and learning (74.7 %) from all games evaluated. Data revealed significant improvements in health and safety knowledge (P < 0.0001).

Area-Specific Mapping of Binocular Disparity across Mouse Visual Cortex
Binocular disparity, the difference between left and right eye images, is a powerful cue for depth perception. Many neurons in the visual cortex of higher mammals are sensitive to binocular disparity, with distinct disparity tuning properties across ...

This study addressed how a senior research thesis is perceived by undergraduate students. It assessed students' perception of research skills, epistemological beliefs, and career goals in Biochemistry (science) and BDC (science‐business) students. Completing a thesis improved confidence in research skills, resilience, scientific identity, closed gender‐

Visual Comfort Assessment for Stereoscopic Image Retargeting
In recent years, visual comfort assessment (VCA) for 3D/stereoscopic content has aroused extensive attention. However, much less work has been done on the perceptual evaluation of stereoscopic image retargeting.

Evolution of metazoan morphological disparity
Significance We attempt to quantify animal “bodyplans” and their variation within Metazoa. Our results challenge the view that maximum variation was achieved early in animal evolutionary history by nonuniformitarian mechanisms.
