Multiscale Environmental Drivers of Aquatic Insect Assemblages in Cerrado Streams

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 51, Issue 3, March 2026.
Multi‐scale drivers of aquatic insect communities in Cerrado streams. The gradient (from left to right) indicates increasing spatial scale, showing that abundance is influenced by local factors (conductivity, temperature), taxonomic richness responds to agricultural land use at an intermediate scale, and community composition is structured by regional ...

Formação, controle e dispersão atmosférica dos Óxidos de Nitrogênio decorrentes da queima de bagaço em caldeiras industriais [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The principal sources of atmospheric polluting emissions of sugar/alcohol units are the steam boilers that use sugar cane bagasse as fuel. As a result of the combustion their release carbon oxides, (CO and CO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate ...

Efeitos da agitação mecânica e matéria orgânica na análise granulométrica do solo Effects of mechanical agitation and soil organic matter on soil particle size analysis

Animal–Plant Interactions Under Defaunation: Consequences for Amazonian Trees of Commercial Interest

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 2, March 2026.
We experimentally investigated the effects of medium‐ and large‐sized mammal defaunation on the removal and fate of seeds from economically important forest species in Amazonian forests. Our results show that mammal exclusion significantly reduced seed removal, although the magnitude of this effect varied among plant species.

Ciclo de vida, estruturas reprodutivas e dispersão de populações experimentais de capim-carrapicho (Cenchrus echinatus L.) Life cycle, reproductive structures and dispersion of experimental populations of sandbur (Cenchrus ech inatus L.)

open access: yesPlanta Daninha, 1984
A partir de semeaduras mensais de 500 cariopses em áreas de 5,00 x 3,80 m em sulcos distanciados de um metro e com profundidade de 3 cm foram obtidas 12 populações experimentais.

Animal‐mediated seed dispersal: A review of study methods

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, Volume 14, Issue 1, January-February 2026.
Abstract By dispersing seeds, animals provide ecological functions critical for the ecology, evolution, and conservation of plants. We review quantitative and empirical approaches and emerging technologies to quantify processes and patterns of animal‐mediated seed dispersal (zoochory) across its phases: from predispersal to postdispersal.

A New Method of Fruit Marking for Studies on Chiropterochory

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 1, January 2026.
We used edible glitter to mark 15,526 fruits of three chiropterochorous plants at 700, 1000, 2000, and 3200 m from a bat roost in Brazil's caatinga. Glitter from all distances was detected at the roost, allowing the identification of specific feeding areas accessed, providing a new approach for zoochory studies.

The Miners of South America: Impacts of Climate Change on the Distribution of Geositta Miners Along Elevational Gradients

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 1, January 2026.
We modeled the current and future distributions of seven Geositta species along elevational gradients in South America under two climate change scenarios. Our results show that most species are projected to lose suitable habitats, particularly under the high‐emission scenario, with distinct responses between lowland and highland taxa.
