Canceling and inverting normal and anomalous group-velocity dispersion using space-time wave packets [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Angular dispersion can counterbalance normal group-velocity dispersion (GVD) that increases the wave-vector length in a dispersive medium. By tilting the wave vector, angular dispersion reduces the axial wave number in this case to match the pre-GVD value.

Formal Uncertainty and Dispersion of Single and Double Difference Models for GNSS-Based Attitude Determination

open access: yesSensors, 2017
With multi-antenna synchronized global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers, the single difference (SD) between two antennas is able to eliminate both satellite and receiver clock error, thus it becomes necessary to reconsider the equivalency ...

Ocean convergence and the dispersion of flotsam

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2018
Significance Ocean currents move material released on the ocean surface away from the release point and, over time, spread it over an increasingly large area.

Thermal Impact Assessment of Groundwater Heat Pumps (GWHPs): Rigorous vs. Simplified Models

open access: yesEnergies, 2017
Groundwater Heat Pumps (GWHPs) are increasingly adopted for air conditioning in urban areas, thus reducing CO2 emissions, and this growth needs to be managed to ensure the sustainability of the thermal alteration of aquifers.

Approximations of Random Dispersal Operators/Equations by Nonlocal Dispersal Operators/Equations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
This paper is concerned with the approximations of random dispersal operators/equations by nonlocal dispersal operators/equations. It first proves that the solutions of properly rescaled nonlocal dispersal initial-boundary value problems converge to the solutions of the corresponding random dispersal initial-boundary value problems.

Pharmaceutical Dispersion Techniques for Dissolution and Bioavailability Enhancement of Poorly Water-Soluble Drugs

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2018
Over the past decades, a large number of drugs as well as drug candidates with poor dissolution characteristics have been witnessed, which invokes great interest in enabling formulation of these active ingredients.

Surface-Initiated Graft Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization of Methyl Methacrylate from Chitin Nanofiber Macroinitiator under Dispersion Conditions

open access: yesFibers, 2015
Surface-initiated graft atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of methyl methacrylate (MMA) from self-assembled chitin nanofibers (CNFs) was performed under dispersion conditions.

Dispersive wave emission from dark solitons in microresonator-based Kerr frequency combs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Taking advantage of an extended Lugiato--Lefever equation with third-order dispersion, we numerically show that dark cavity solitons formed in normal dispersion of microresonators are capable of emitting dispersive waves in both normal and anomalous dispersion regions, resembling the behavior of the commonly encountered bright cavity solitons.
