Location and Dispersion Analysis

2021
Material scientists have discovered that certain properties of a composite, for instance, the strength, conductivity or transparency, can be remarkably enhanced by blending nanoparticles into the host materials. The resulting improvement in material properties is believed to depend, to a large degree, on how uniformly nanoparticles are mixed into the ...

Polarization mode dispersion in dispersion-shifted fibers: an exact analysis

Optics Letters, 1993
Using an exact waveguide analysis and measured stress profiles, we show that a delicate interplay between form-induced and stress-induced contributions to polarization mode dispersion in dispersion-shifted fibers can significantly reduce intrinsic short-length polarization mode dispersions.

Dispersion models and longitudinal data analysis

Statistics in Medicine, 1999
Dispersion models provide a flexible class of non-normal distributions with many potential applications in biostatistics, accommodating a wide range of continuous, discrete and mixed data. Starting with Liang and Zeger's generalized estimating equation method, we review some recent applications of dispersion models in longitudinal data analysis ...

ANALYSIS OF DISPERSION ON A SPHERE

Geophysical Journal International, 1956
Summary The probability density on a sphere, exp (K cos e'), where 8' is the angle between the polar and observation vectors, has recently been suggested by Fisher for the analysis of palaeo-magnetic data. In this paper, a series OF approximate tests of significance is given for hypotheses about the precision constant K and the polar ...

An Analysis of Dispersal in Mites

The American Naturalist, 1970
Dispersal from an old to a new resource involves two components: (1) the number of dispersants, and (2) behavioral adaptations determining the probability of discovering a new resource. Dispersant numbers may be increased by dispersing at a younger stage, decreasing the biomass of individuals developed prior to dispersal and/or reducing the biomass of ...

Chromatically dispersed interferometry with wavelet analysis

Optics Letters, 2006
A new white-light interferometry point sensor utilizing a chromatically dispersed depth detection field is addressed. Monitoring the interference in the optical frequency domain allows for microscopic height detection without the necessity of a mechanical axial scan.

Analysis of Dispersion

2007
The analysis of variance is one of the most highly developed areas of mathematical statistics. Not coincidentally, it is one of the most widely utilized. But many of the deductions therefrom in the analysis and interpretations of experiments depend upon the accuracy of the assumption of normality of the observations.

Analysis of nonlinearity and dispersion

Modern Problems of Telecommunications - 2024. Proceedings of Russian Scientific and Technical Conference
The paper considers analysis of nonlinearity and dispersion impact on coherent optical OFDM system performance. System performance includes the achievable Q-factor, optimum launch power density and information spectral efficiency. The results consider the system performance dependence on a fiber dispersion, number of spans, dispersion compensation ...

Uncertainty analysis in air dispersion modeling

Environmental Modelling & Software, 2002
Abstract The Taylor series approach for uncertainty analyses is advanced as an efficient method of producing a probabilistic output from air dispersion models. A probabilistic estimate helps in making better-informed decisions when compared to results of deterministic models.
