Dispersion entropy for graph signals

open access: yesChaos, Solitons & Fractals, 2023
We present a novel method, called Dispersion Entropy for Graph Signals, DEG, as a powerful tool for analysing the irregularity of signals defined on graphs. DEG generalises the classical dispersion entropy concept for univariate time series, enabling its application in diverse domains such as image processing, time series analysis, and network analysis.

A New Method of Fault Feature Extraction Based on Hierarchical Dispersion Entropy

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2021
In the process of fault feature extraction of rolling bearing, the feature information is difficult to be extracted fully. A novel method of fault feature extraction called hierarchical dispersion entropy is proposed in this paper.

Double Feature Extraction Method of Ship-Radiated Noise Signal Based on Slope Entropy and Permutation Entropy

open access: yesEntropy, 2021
In order to accurately identify various types of ships and develop coastal defenses, a single feature extraction method based on slope entropy (SlEn) and a double feature extraction method based on SlEn combined with permutation entropy (SlEn&PE) are ...

Information Entropy as a Reliable Measure of Nanoparticle Dispersity [PDF]

open access: yesChemistry of Materials, 2020
Nanoparticle size impacts properties vital to applications ranging from drug delivery to diagnostics and catalysis. As such, evaluating nanoparticle size dispersity is of fundamental importance. Conventional approaches, such as standard deviation, usually require the nanoparticle population to follow a known distribution and are ill-equipped to deal ...

Comparative Study on Feature Extraction of Marine Background Noise Based on Nonlinear Dynamic Features

open access: yesEntropy, 2023
Marine background noise (MBN) is the background noise of the marine environment, which can be used to invert the parameters of the marine environment. However, due to the complexity of the marine environment, it is difficult to extract the features of ...

Text Entropy as Dispersion of Meaning

open access: yesVestnik of Northern (Arctic) Federal University. Series Humanitarian and Social Sciences, 2023
This article analyses the entropy of the language system in general and text entropy in particular. Based on the study of entropy in linguistics, the authors aim to substantiate the concept of text entropy and describe the process of chronotopic translation.

Single Feature Extraction Method of Bearing Fault Signals Based on Slope Entropy

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2022
As an entropy representing the complexity of sequence, slope entropy (SloE) is applied to feature extraction of bearing signal for the first time. With the advantage of slope entropy in feature extraction, the effectiveness of bearing fault signal ...
