Chromatic Dispersion of Selected Gradient-Index Glasses
Gradient Index Optical Systems, 1994The degree to which gradient-index (GRIN) elements can be effectively used in optical systems depends partly on the ability to characterize them. This paper discusses measurements of the chromatic dispersion and birefringence made with a multi-wavelength, harmonic phase-shifting interferometer1 on several types of gradient-index glasses.

The Index of Dispersion of Molecular Evolution: Slow Fluctuations
Theoretical Population Biology, 2000The most simple neutral model of molecular evolution predicts that the number of substitutions within a lineage in T generations ought to be Poisson distributed. Therefore, the variance in the number of substitutions ought to equal the mean number. The ratio of the variance to the mean number of substitutions is called the index of dispersion, R(T ...

Note on the Poisson index of dispersion

Dispersion indexes and thinned point processes
2011We are interested in the e ect of some types of events on dispersion indexes such as the mean crowding. From a mathematical point of view, we consider that a distribution of individuals is a realization of a point process and we study the consequences of a stochastic point thinning on the model distributional properties.
