Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Pore-scale simulation of miscible displacement in an inclined porous medium

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research
Introduction: This study investigates the displacement of two miscible fluids within an inclined porous medium at the pore scale, highlighting how the pore-scale microstructure, inclination angle, and viscosity ratio affect the interfacial instability ...

Impact of Pore-Scale Characteristics on Immiscible Fluid Displacement

open access: yesGeofluids, 2020
Immiscible fluid flows (drainage displacement) where nonwetting fluid invades porous media filled with wetting fluid are frequently observed. Numerous studies have confirmed the existence of three different displacement patterns which depend on the ...

Alternative Telescopic Displacement: An Efficient Multimodal Alignment Method

open access: yes, 2023
In the realm of multimodal data integration, feature alignment plays a pivotal role. This paper introduces an innovative approach to feature alignment that revolutionizes the fusion of multimodal information. Our method employs a novel iterative process of telescopic displacement and expansion of feature representations across different modalities ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Dynamic evolution law of multiphase flow pathways in viscoelastic particle flooding

open access: yesYouqi dizhi yu caishoulu
To gain an in-depth understanding of the microscopic flow characteristics and residual oil migration during viscoelastic particle flooding, this study established a pore-scale numerical model for viscoelastic particle-water-oil three-phase flow based on ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.
