Mapping Vulnerability: Structure, Cascades, and Resilience in the Global Railway Vans Trade Network

open access: yesEntropy
Global supply chains face increasing vulnerability to disruptions from geopolitical tensions, natural disasters, and demand shocks. The global trade network for railway vans, critical for transcontinental freight transport, remains understudied despite ...

FSI Simulations of Pulse Wave Propagation in Human Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm: The Effects of Sac Geometry and Stiffness

open access: yesBiomedical Engineering and Computational Biology, 2016
This study aims to quantify the effects of geometry and stiffness of aneurysms on the pulse wave velocity (PWV) and propagation in fluid-solid interaction (FSI) simulations of arterial pulsatile flow. Spatiotemporal maps of both the wall displacement and

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

A three-dimensional lattice-free agent-based model of intracellular ice formation and propagation and intercellular mechanics in liver tissues

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science
A successful cryopreservation of tissues and organs is crucial for medical procedures and drug development acceleration. However, there are only a few instances of successful tissue cryopreservation.

Queue Management Project Model: Strategies for the Management of Queues at Upstream Junctions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
This Working Paper is one of a series representing work under a SERC grant on queue management strategies for urban traffic control systems, whose objectives are:- (i)to generalise the strategies developed in an earlier study of queue management; (ii)to

Nonlocality vs. complementarity: a conservative approach to the information problem

open access: yes, 2009
A proposal for resolution of the information paradox is that "nice slice" states, which have been viewed as providing a sharp argument for information loss, do not in fact do so as they do not give a fully accurate description of the quantum state of a ...

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Encyclopedia of 2D β′‐In2Se3 Growth Using Chemical Vapor Deposition: The Effects of Synthesis Parameters Onto Material Quality

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A distinct semi‐confined inner‐tube chemical vapor deposition geometry enables reproducible, large‐area growth of phase‐pure 2D β′‐In2Se3 from InI + Se precursors. Engineering local vapor transport and optimizing precursor delivery and temperature–time conditions yield uniform continuous films.

Designing a predictive framework on logistical failures for the global oil and gas supply chain

open access: yesResults in Engineering
The global oil and gas supply chain (GSC) is a complex, multimodal network that depends on seamless coordination across upstream extraction, midstream transport, and downstream distribution. However, existing models often treat these layers independently,
