Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC) is a microangiopathic hemolytic anemia characterized by endothelial dysfunction, hemolysis, platelet aggregation, fibrin clot formation, and degradation. After clotting factors and platelets become depleted, bleeding may occur.
