Ultrasonic welding of dissimilar materials: A review

open access: yesPeriodicals of Engineering and Natural Sciences (PEN), 2015
During the last few years ultrasonic welding has become significant attention regarding its suitable applications in comparison to traditional welding techniques. Bonding of dissimilar materials has always been a challenging task due to poor control on grain size and sensitive mechanical properties that could have been made by joining with traditional ...

Control of welding residual stress for dissimilar laser welded materials [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Materials Processing Technology, 2008
Abstract The most common problem of welding dissimilar metals (DMWs) with respect to residual stresses is the differences in the coefficient of thermal expansion and heat conductivity of the two welded metals. In the present work, a CO2 continuous laser welding process was successfully applied and optimized for joining a dissimilar AISI 316 stainless

Nondestructive Testing of Welded Composite Metal Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
X‐ray computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate welded steel–steel composite metal foam (CMF) joints of two density classes. It reports variation in postweld spatial void distribution and correlates it to weld‐induced changes, mechanical performance, and failure within welded CMF panels.
