Dissimilar Metal Joining

open access: yes, 2012
Magnetic pulse welding (MPW) can offer unique advantages over other joining techniques when applied correctly. Especially for dissimilar metal welding it has several advantages due to its very low heat input and short process times. Due to the high demands of the process on the welding system properties, it is vital to understand the process as ...

Measurement of the Casimir Force between Dissimilar Metals

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2003
The first precise measurement of the Casimir force between dissimilar metals is reported. The attractive force, between a Cu layer evaporated on a microelectromechanical torsional oscillator, and an Au layer deposited on an Al$_2$O$_3$ sphere, was measured dynamically with a noise level of 6 fN/$\sqrt{\rm{Hz}}$.
