Thermal Effects in Dissimilar Magnetic Pulse Welding [PDF]
Magnetic pulse welding (MPW) is often categorized as a cold welding technology, whereas latest studies evidence melted and rapidly cooled regions within the joining interface. These phenomena already occur at very low impact velocities, when the heat input due to plastic deformation is comparatively low and where jetting in the kind of a distinct ...

The subject of this work is the development of a corrosion‐protective coating on steel sheets for form hardening. Rapid heating in an extreme high vacuum (XHV)‐adequate atmosphere is a useful method to prevent oxidation during alloying of 22MnB5 and aluminum to obtain a metallurgical bonding.

Nondestructive Evaluation of Welding Residual Stresses in Dissimilar Welded Pipes [PDF]
This paper investigates the nondestructive capability of ultrasonic waves in residual stress evaluation of dissimilar welded pipes. Longitudinal critically refracted (L CR ) waves are employed to measure the residual stresses in a pipe-pipe joint of stainless steel 304 and carbon steel A106. Measuring the acoustoelastic constant is usually accomplished

Welding blades to rotors [PDF]
A process is described to form T-joints between dissimilar thickness parts by magnetic force upset welding. This type of resistance welding is used to join compressor and turbine parts which thereby reduces the weight and cost of jet ...
