Collective Rent Dissipation [PDF]
The theory of rent seeking was initiated by Tullock (1967, 1980), followed by Krueger (1974) and Posner (1975) and, more recently, extended in various directions by Allard (1988); Appelbaum and Katz (1986a, b, c); Gradstein and Nitzan (1989); Hillman and Katz (1984, 1987), Hillman and Samet (1987); Hillman and Riley (1989); Katz et al. (1990); Long and

This study reports lightweight polyetherimide triply periodic minimal surfaces lattices coated with carbon nanotube‐reinforced epoxy that combine mechanical robustness with self‐sensing. The conformal coating enhances stiffness, strength and energy absorption while enabling reliable strain monitoring.

Helicity Spectra and Dissipation
Both dissipation of helicity and it spectrum we are study on the basis of asymptotic model. Introduction into model dependence of angle between turbulent components vorticity and velocity on the governing parameters leads to the spectra of helicity ...

Systems of interacting networks of strings such as cosmic strings or quantum vortices can be approximated in a certain regime as an anisotropic fluid with an equation of state depending on a conserved flux. The equations for ideal magnetohydrodynamics are shown to be another example of a fluid of this type. Previous work on these fluids is now extended

Numerical Modeling of Tank Cars Carrying Hazardous Materials With and Without Composite Metal Foam
Large‐scale puncture models consisting of hazardous materials (HAZMATs) tank car with protective steel–steel composite metal foam (S–S CMF) are solved numerically. Tank car plate with added 10.91–13.33 mm thick S–S CMF layer does not puncture. Protective S–S CMF absorbs impact energy, reduces plate deformation, and prevents shear bands formation ...

The Intermittency of Turbulence in Magneto-Hydodynamical Simulations and in the Cosmos
Turbulent dissipation is a central issue in the star and galaxy formation process. Its fundamental property of space–time intermittency, well characterised in incompressible laboratory experiments, remains elusive in cosmic turbulence.

The ocean surface boundary layer is a critical interface across which momentum, heat, and trace gases are exchanged between the oceans and atmosphere. Surface processes (winds, waves, and buoyancy forcing) are known to contribute significantly to fluxes ...

Ohmic Dissipation in the Atmospheres of Hot Jupiters
Hot Jupiter atmospheres exhibit fast, weakly-ionized winds. The interaction of these winds with the planetary magnetic field generates drag on the winds and leads to ohmic dissipation of the induced electric currents.
