Dissipative Bose-Einstein condensation in contact with a thermal reservoir [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We investigate the real-time dynamics of open quantum spin-$1/2$ or hardcore boson systems on a spatial lattice, which are governed by a Markovian quantum master equation.

Energy-Dissipative Evolutionary Deep Operator Neural Networks

open access: yesJournal of Computational Physics, 2023
Energy-Dissipative Evolutionary Deep Operator Neural Network is an operator learning neural network. It is designed to seed numerical solutions for a class of partial differential equations instead of a single partial differential equation, such as partial differential equations with different parameters or different initial conditions.

Scattering theory for a class of non-selfadjoint extensions of symmetric operators

open access: yes, 2020
This work deals with the functional model for a class of extensions of symmetric operators and its applications to the theory of wave scattering. In terms of Boris Pavlov's spectral form of this model, we find explicit formulae for the action of the ...

Nonlinear maximum principles for dissipative linear nonlocal operators and applications

open access: yes, 2011
We obtain a family of nonlinear maximum principles for linear dissipative nonlocal operators, that are general, robust, and versatile. We use these nonlinear bounds to provide transparent proofs of global regularity for critical SQG and critical d ...

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Coherence and mixedness of neutrino oscillations in a magnetic field

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2021
The radical departure from classical physics implies quantum coherence, i.e., coherent superposition of eigenstates of Hermitian operators. In resource theory, quantum coherence is a resource for quantum operations.

Control of a single-particle localization in open quantum systems

open access: yes, 2017
We investigate the possibility to control localization properties of the asymptotic state of an open quantum system with a tunable synthetic dissipation.

Evaluation of the Potential of Laser Shock Peening Compared with Cold Expansion for Improving Fatigue Resistance of Riveted Lap Joints of Aerospace Grade 7175 Al Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...

Evolution governed by “generalized“ dissipative operators

open access: yesProceedings of the Japan Academy, Series A, Mathematical Sciences, 1992
The authors consider the Cauchy problem (P) \(u'(t)\in Au(t)+f(t)\), \(t\in[0,T]\); \(u(0)=x\) is a Banach space \((X,|\cdot|)\) under the assumption that \(f\in L^ 1(0,T;X)\) and the multivalued operator \(A: D(A)\subset X\to X\) satisfy the condition: there exists \(\omega: \mathbb{R}_ +\to\mathbb{R}\) such that \(\omega(0)=0\) and problem \(r'(t ...

Process‐Informed Analysis of As‐Built Metal Additive Surface Features

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article introduces a novel method for feature‐based surface texture characterisation directly incorporating manufacturing variables into the feature extraction workflow. This marks a major step towards identifying process‐specific surface properties and their influence on part function and hence a holistic understanding of process–structure ...
