Dissolved gas analysis: Gas measurements technologies – Part 2 – Gas Chromatography (GC)
This is the second part of the column “Gas measurement technologies for DGA”. In Part 1, the principles and problematics of DGA (dissolved gas analysis) were presented as a chemical method based on chemical measurements. The column is mainly intended for non-chemists who are interested in understanding the basics and the main weaknesses of the most ...

The Role of Small Reservoirs in Reducing Reactive N Export Via Denitrification [PDF]
Reactive nitrogen (N), which harms ecosystem health, has been increasing in the biosphere, leading to higher N export to coastal ecosystems. Although man-made reservoirs can be significant sources of greenhouse gases, they can also retain N, thus ...

The separation of Helium gas from natural gas is challenging but highly important. MIL‐116(Ga), a “non‐porous” metal–organic framework is used as a molecular sieve to separate He from CH4. Druse‐like MIL‐116(Ga) particles are integrated into polysulfone mixed matrix membranes.

Spectrometric methodology for dissolved gas analysis
In previous columns, gas chromatography and electrochemical approaches for dissolved gas measurement were described. In this column, the oldest and emerging method, spectrometry, is described. It is an applicable method for most online and portable devices, and it may reappear in laboratories as reliable and standardized.

A new global gas hydrate budget based on numerical reaction-transport modeling and a novel parameterization of Holocene and Quaternary sedimentation [PDF]
This study provides new estimates for the global methane hydrate inventory based on reaction-transport modeling [1]. A multi-1D model for POC degradation, gas hydrate formation and dissolution is presented.

This study uncovers the unexplored role of intermolecular interactions in multiphoton absorption in coordination polymers. By analyzing [Zn2tpda(DMA)2(DMF)0.3], it shows how the electronic coupling of the chromophores and confinement in the MOF enhance two‐and three‐photon absorption.
