Determination of dissolved oxygen in water

Talanta, 1978
Dissolved oxygen in water is determined by its oxidation of manganese(II) to manganese(III) in alkaline medium and formation of the red manganese(III) ethylenediaminetetra-acetic acid complex on acidification to pH 4. The range of determination is 7-3160 mug of oxygen in a final volume of 500 ml.

Interaction of positronium with dissolved oxygen in liquids

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2020
The interaction of positronium with molecular oxygen dissolved in liquids is experimentally investigated. A computer software has been developed for fitting the positron annihilation lifetime spectra using parameters with clear physical meaning.

Modelling and Control of Dissolved Oxygen in an Estuary

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1975
The two-dimensional spatial distribution of dissolved oxygen in Jamaica Bay, New York, is formulated as a multipoint boundary value problem. The problem, which includes the interactions involving the carbonaceous biochemical demand and the total unoxidized nitrogen, was solved by a multiple shooting technique.

Dissolved Oxygen and Nutrients

2015
Changing global temperatures may alter oceanic concentrations of both dissolved oxygen (DO), which reflects water quality, and nutrients, which are an essential factor for the growth and distribution of phytoplankton. The East Sea (Japan Sea) is often considered a “miniature ocean” and an ideal natural laboratory to estimate the impact of global ...

Studies on the determination of dissolved oxygen in water

Talanta, 1983
Studies on the decomposition rates of the Mn(III) complex of cyclohexanediaminetetra-acetate (DCTA) in light and in darkness have shown that this complex is more stable than the one derived from ethylenediaminetetra-acetate. The optimum pH range for the determination of dissolved oxygen by means of the Mn(III)-DCTA complex is found to be between 3 and ...

Dissolved oxygen electrodes

1979
Recent advances in theory, construction, operation, and application of dissolved oxygen (DO) electrodes are reviewed to assist those who use or intend to use them in such areas as biochemical engineering, microbiology, and environmental engineering. Basic operating principles of membrane-covered DO electrodes and oxygen microelectrodes are presented ...

Dissolved Oxygen as an Indicator of Bioavailable Dissolved Organic Carbon in Groundwater

Groundwater, 2011
Concentrations of dissolved oxygen (DO) plotted vs. dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in groundwater samples taken from a coastal plain aquifer of South Carolina (SC) showed a statistically significant hyperbolic relationship. In contrast, DO‐DOC plots of groundwater samples taken from the eastern San Joaquin Valley of California (CA)

Dissolved Oxygen in Water

2008
After performing this experiment, the student shall be able to: Determine the level of dissolved oxygen in a sample of water using Winkler’s method. Analyze the effects of various factors on the level of dissolved oxygen in a water sample (e.g., salt content, temperature, degree of mixing, and the presence of reducing compounds).

Coulometric determination of dissolved oxygen in water

Talanta, 1974
The oxygen content of air-saturated distilled water has been determined at between 10 and 40 degrees by using a controlled-potential coulometric method based on an earlier published method for the iodometric determination of nitrite. The maximum error for the determinations was +/- 0.3% over the whole range, and the time of analysis about 3 min.

Benthic foraminiferal dissolved-oxygen index and dissolved-oxygen levels in the modern ocean

Geology, 1994
Changes in oxygen concentrations at the sediment-water interface play a major role in controlling benthic foraminiferal assemblages and morphologic characteristics; such changes are reflected in size, wall thickness, porosity, and also taxa (genera and species) of foraminifera present. These morphologic and taxonomic differences have been quantified as
