[Fractures of the distal end of the radius.].

Acta chirurgiae orthopaedicae et traumatologiae Cechoslovaca, 2012
The authors evaluate in a group of 92 patients the results of conservative treatment of fractures of the distal radius. They draw attention to terminological inaccuracies in the evaluation of these fractures. This leads to a relatively high percentage of poor results in their patients, though their results are comparable with those of other authors. As

MIROS FIXATION IN DISTAL END RADIUS FRACTURES

INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
Introduction: 8% to 15% of all fractures are distal radius fractures[1]. Falls on the outstretched hand with the wrist in dorsiexion result in the majority of fractures. Minimally Invasive Reduction Osteosynthesis System (MIROS) is a type of elastic metaphyseomedullary xation that is mostly utilized for cancellous bone fractures.

The importance of the ulnar side of the wrist in fractures of the distal end of the radius

Injury, 1975
In a series of 81 fractures of the distal end of the radius, 20% had unsatisfactory results. Damage to the ulnar collateral mechanism adversely affects the clinical result despite a good anatomical result. Immobilization of injuries to the ulnar collateral mechanism should be in pronation and ulnar deviation even when there is no significant radial ...

Bipolar fixation of fractures of the distal end of the radius: a comparative study

Injury, 1988
This paper reports a prospective study of the treatment of Colles' fractures, either by bipolar fixation or a forearm cast. Bipolar fixation reduced the degree of secondary displacement and no patient required a repeat manipulation. The functional results at 6 months, as assessed by the Scheck system, showed a strong trend in favour of bipolar fixation,

[Secondary dislocations in fractures of the distal end of the radius].

Chirurgia narzadow ruchu i ortopedia polska, 1995
In the group of 31 patients treated by immobilization of the forearm we observed 71% of secondary dislocations and in group of 46 with the full-arm plaster 65% of secondary dislocation occurred. In the group of 20 patients with the full-arm plaster and the X-ray done between the 7th and 10th day after reduction to correct possible dislocation, followed

Fracture of the Distal End of the Radius: Historical Perspective

2002
The history of the distal radius fracture is a fascinating one, as it intertwines historical precedent, the nobility of surgical tradition, and the inevitable conflict attendant to strong surgical personalities. Although it is inconceivable that this common injury was thought not to be a fracture but, rather, a carpal dislocation until the end of the ...

The Fracture of the Distal End of the Radius: An Historical Perspective

1996
The history of the distal radius fracture is a fascinating one, for it intertwines historical precedent, the nobility of surgical tradition, and the inevitable conflict attendant to strong surgical personalities. Although it is inconceivable that this common injury was thought to be not a fracture but rather a carpal dislocation until the end of the ...

COMMINUTED FRACTURES OF THE DISTAL END OF THE RADIUS TREATED BY ULNAR PINNING

The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1952
A method of ulnar pinning after reduction by traction and manipulation in which all components of the fracture are corrected has yielded a satisfactory percentage of excellent and good results. No infection occurred when a threaded wire was used and cut below the level of the skin.

[Osteosynthesis by plate in fractures of the distal end of the radius].

Annales de chirurgie, 1994
The authors recall the place of apposed plate fixation of fractures of the lower end of the radius, most of which are anterior. The ideal indication is the simple fracture by articular or supra-articular, compression-flexion. The importance of modelling and positioning of the plate is emphasised. The use of other types of fixation for composite systems
