Bone Lengthening Radius using Limb Reconstruction System - A Successful Treatment for Radius Shortening: A Case Report [PDF]

open access: yesMalaysian Orthopaedic Journal
Fractures of the distal radius are the most common type of forearm fractures seen in children. The most serious outcome of physeal injuries is growth arrest, which can result in deformity and even significant differences in limb length.

125 years of exploration and research at Gough's Cave (Somerset, UK) 125 ans d'exploration et de recherches à Gough's Cave (Somerset, Royaume‐Uni)

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
Our understanding of the recolonization of northwest Europe in the period leading up to the Lateglacial Interstadial relies heavily on discoveries from Gough's Cave (Somerset, UK). Gough's Cave is the richest Late Upper Palaeolithic site in the British Isles, yielding an exceptional array of human remains, stone and organic artefacts, and butchered ...

Morphometric and Paleobiological Insights Into Pleistocene Sicilian Wolf Populations

open access: yesActa Zoologica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Pleistocene wolves (Canis lupus) from Sicily represent one of the few known insular populations of this species from that time period. Despite their potential relevance for understanding carnivore adaptations in insular contexts, no dedicated study has previously investigated their morphology and evolutionary significance.

The Biomechanical Comparison between Two Methods of K-wire Fixation in Extra-articular Distal End Radius Fracture [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Orthopedics and Joint Surgery
Aim: The aim of our study is to compare the biomechanical strength of two different K-wire fixation methods for extra-articular fractures of the distal end of the radius.

Refining the timing of Middle Pleistocene (MIS 12 to MIS 6) ice advances into northern central Europe: sedimentological analysis and single‐grain luminescence dating of glaciotectonic complexes and tunnel‐valley fills

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
We summarize the current state of knowledge on the age of the Middle Pleistocene ice advances into northern central Europe and provide 25 new single‐grain feldspar luminescence ages of Elsterian and Saalian glacigenic sediments to constrain the age of the ice advances and their tentative correlation with marine isotope stages/substages.

Isolated Distal Ulna shaft fracture with Distal Radioulnar Joint dislocation or Reverse Galeazzi Pattern: A Case Report with Literature Review

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Case Reports
Introduction: Galeazzi fracture is known as the fracture of the distal end radius with distal radioulnar joint dislocation. Many patterns are described in literature which are equivalent but the distal ulna shaft fracture with distal radioulnar joint ...

Role of percutaneous pinning and cast application in extra-articular and simple intra-articular management of distal radius fractures: A clinical study

open access: yesJournal of Orthopedics, Traumatology and Rehabilitation, 2017
Background: Distal end radius fracture is a common fracture seen in the routine orthopedic practice. Although most of these fractures are managed by cast application, the loss of reduction and malunion rates are high.

An unusual presentation of osteochondrosis in the elbows and tarsi of a Friesian colt

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, EarlyView.
Summary This case report describes the clinical, diagnostic imaging results and post‐mortem findings in a foal that underwent reassessment following surgical management of angular limb deformities (ALD) and acute onset of gait abnormalities. Upon presentation, the foal showed an abnormal stiff gait characterised by bilateral medial limb collapse during

Electroacupuncture and category IV LASER for treating suprascapular neuropathy in a two‐year‐old Arabian filly

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, EarlyView.
Summary A 2‐year‐old Arabian filly presented with acute onset grade 4/5 (AAEP) right forelimb lameness and hindlimb ataxia following a collision with another horse and subsequent fall. The right forelimb lameness was associated with marked scapulohumeral joint instability.
