Metacarpophalangeal Joint Salvage Following Gunshot Wounds: A Case Series And Literature Review

open access: yesJournal of Hand Surgery Global Online
Metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint arthroplasty may be considered for patients with destructive gunshot wound (GSW) injuries. We present a review of two patients who sustained a low-velocity GSW of the hand with involvement of an MCP joint requiring MCP ...

Distal border synovial invaginations of the equine distal sesamoid bone communicate with the distal interphalangeal joint

open access: yes, 2017
Summary Objectives: Macroscopic studies have suggested a link between distal border synovial invaginations of the navicular bone and the distal interphalangeal joint.

Biopsychosocial Determinants of Hand Function and Its Trajectories Over Five Years in Patients With Hand Osteoarthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study aimed to investigate hand function trajectories over five years in primary hand osteoarthritis (OA). Additionally, determinants of baseline and longitudinal hand function were assessed. Methods A total of 538 patients with both baseline and five‐year study visits were analyzed.

Influence of increased intraarticular pressure on the angular displacement of the isolated equine distal interphalangeal joint

open access: yes, 2016
The equine distal interphalangeal joint (DIPJ) is commonly affected by palpable joint distension and degenerative joint disease, with microinstability considered a contributory factor. The aim of this kinematic study was to investigate DIPJ angles during

Enhancing Sensitivity across Scales with Highly Sensitive Hall Effect‐Based Auxetic Tactile Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
Herein, a tactile sensor based on hall‐effect sensors with an auxetic structure, called Hall effect‐based auxetic tactile sensor (HEATS), is proposed. The change in magnetism resulting from the deformation of the auxetic structure is utilized for sensing.
